anyone know any places around the chicago suburbs where you can legally race(like a track or something)?

Shhiiiitt- there's a bunch of places. Not sure how close to Chicago you want? But I know a buddy who races his Maxima all the time - locally. Racetrack 66 is a place I know they race- Ill get back to ya w/ others.

yeah, 355 - after schaumburg. on a sunday morning that thing is wide open...it's sweet. Just make sure radio is off and radar detector in top shape.

Check out Blackhawk Farms in Rockford - a nive road race course- may have lapping days. Route 66 Raceway in Cicero, also. If you want to drive a ways, they definitely have them at GingerMan Raceway in MI. Use these names and search the net. All these places have sites.
