I have a 04 coupe an actual canadian model and iirc they don't turn off when i lift the handbrake, but i always leave my lights on automatic.

anyhow depending on whether you live in the Vancouver area, i can recommend you a place to get your DRLs wired in. that's all you really need.

and yes the DRls are the fog/highbeam.

For the inspection 1 at canadian tire, dont worry too much about that, if you got Daytime lights that lit up with the ignition, they wont check the handbrake, and highbeam lights,

If they tell you something, just try another store, once you have the stamp, they wont botter you again,

Bought an 06 2 years ago in NYC, im in New-Brunswick

the drl's only shut off it you start the vehicle with the hand brake on. when you release the hand brake the DRL's turn on, and wont turn off until you shut off the car.

My 07 coupe from from the states. but I got it when the exchange rate was much better. Not sure if it's worth it right now with a crappy exchange rate. and in BC I paid GST, PST and 6.1% none NAFTA fee the $200 odd bucks for RIF,$150 DRL, $150 for BC inspection and just over $100.00 for my insurance binder to be able to drive the car home from the states.

Just in case here's the link to the DRL you'll need.
