Traction Control Q/Nub ?

Traction Control Q/Nub ?
Ok so I've been posting a lot recently trying to get the swing of things and the people in this forum, I learned so much lurking it over the course of a day that I had to join to show my support.
So I got my G on Saturday and I am still getting used to it. One thing I can't seem to understand is the VDC. I have looked online and through this forum but I didn't find the answer to my question in previous threads.
My question is...When my car starts the "VDC OFF" light is glowing in my HUD (i call it a HUD) but does this mean its engaged? or its actually off? I first assumed it was telling me that it was on and to push the button would make it turn off, but all of the posts im reading seem to indicate that it defaults to on, so I dont know why my car would default to off.
I know, nub question, bear with me and don't flame too hard.

^why do you have to turn your car off to turn your vdc off? I have an 04 coupe as well and I can turn mine on and off without shutting off the car. When I turn off the car mine restarts and to turn it back off when restarting I have to hit the button. I am
pretty sure my car is acting normal.
I do know there's a mod of some sort that can be done to bypass the vdc auto reset when turning off the car. I'm done. GL

My dad has an 04 and I have an 05. On both of ours when we turn the car on there is no light. meaning the traction control is on by default for safety reasons. To turn it off we have to press the button and the "VDC OFF" light will come on your HUD. You must have a problem with yours or te previous owner must have done that mod another user was talking about. Try resetting your ECU.
I wish I had your problem, I'm a fiend for no traction

From the factory, The VDC will be on automatically when you start the car. If you turn the VDC off and then decide to turn off your car and start it again, VDC will be on.
Sounds like the OP bought a used G where someone modified the VDC so that it is automatically OFF when you start the car and you have to manually turn it on.

It doesn't sound like one of our units - our units add a "memory" to the system so if you enable VDC it stays enabled until you turn it back off. This sounds like it disables VDC every time the car starts.
The easiest thing to do would be to drop the panel under the drivers side dash and see what is connected to the VDC switch. There are multiple ways to shut the VDC off each time the car starts, but, to my knowledge, only KPtechnologies offers a memory solution.
