not to be the bearer of bad new or make things worse for you, rather i want to give you a heads up. the insurance company may claim that this is your fault. most states gives the person driving on a road the right of way. most cases i've seen of people opening doors or cutting of a person in a blind spot ends up against the guy who opened the door or cut off the person behind them. hope things work out for you.

No, I recently got my car and It has a few little paint chips and stuff. My grandparents are meticulous and my grandpa was trying to talk me into having all these minor things repaired on my car, do you know if the shop will take car of 1 small door ding and several small paint scratches? Previous owner swiped a pole getting out of a parking spot

we can fix your problems. but i cant give you a good estimate without showing me pictures or bringing your car over. if you do leave your car here for repair, i can give you a free rental car that the shop has. keep me updated

edit: oh btw, i saw your other thread about the latch. bring it over to the shop when you got time, might fix it for free on the spot depending how bad it is.

That really doesn't seem all that bad. In my freak out mode, I seriously could have believed it would have been double that. Overall, not as bad as originally thought, but still sucks.

I wouldn't be surprised if their insurance company "tries" to turn the blame, its their core business to collect premiums and to not pay for damages unless absolutely necessary. I made it very clear to the adjuster I spoke to today though that I was already outside of the car when this happened. Opening the door isn't a factor and I also made it clear that I didn't swing it since I was actually leaning towards the car gathering my stuff from the back seat. I suppose they could try to say, "your butt hit the door and swung it." But that's pretty lame. You never know though I guess.

When I was in school years ago down in LA, a friend of mine did swing his door open right as a car was passing by. The road was narrow and the damage to the passing car started about 50% down the side of their car. It was deemed my friend's fault and had to pay for both cars. This sounds a bit more reasonable.

Seriously though, my case seems like a no brainer. But then again, lots of unbelievable stuff happen in our world.

glad you are ok. the road is so wide and you wonder why or how some people drive (or even pass their driving test in the first place)

No kidding about the wide road. All of my co-workers are still in disbelief after I showed them that picture.

As for an update, it's been a frustrating week. So the guy was quick to file a claim. But since then he's gone MIA. And to add to that, there is an investigation of coverage going on against his policy. I've been told that this is just a verification of whether his premiums are paid, but it's been a week now and the claims adjuster for his insurance still can't tell me if he's actually covered or not.
