painting 911

any experienced painters help me on this one..
I just bought some BLUE anodized aluminum finish pi-thon hose locks.
im trying to paint these to flat black without cracking.

im painting with rattle. do I need to sand and apply primer or just rattle can paint straight up?
and do i need to apply clear coat so it wont crack?

I dunno.. i've never painted these type of materials.

was never good at painting. no wonder I failed every art class...

let me know guys!

for most painting you would sand and prime... and as far as I know clear coat helps prevent chipping, but not sure about cracking?

You have to strip it first... Easy Off oven cleaner will strip the anodized finish.

so if i dont strip the anodized finish, even with primer, rattle paint wont stick?
hmm lots of work involved it seems.

when using Easy Off oven cleaner, how do i apply it? with clothe? and does stripping involve any sort of sanding?
