Over the past few days, I've noticed my G making a very strange noise. This isn't like the noise it makes from the JWT pop charger when up/down shifting (The Whoosh) but it sounds quite similar. In 3rd and 4th, when just cruising, if I take my foot completely off the gas, I hear a whining noise (same pitch as the pop charger noise) and it immediatly goes away with the slightest throttle blip. Now, I had my pulleys changed to the UR set at the same time I put on my pop charger, so I'm a little worried that the noise is the pulleys coming a little loose. I really dont have the time to just drop my car off this week (I'm very busy at work) so Im curious if this has happened to any other G owners with the JWT pop charger, or if I need to get my *** to the shop to have my pulleys re-torqued. Does it sound like a rocky squeaking sound? - coming from the side of the car? if so you might have a worn wheel bearing.

Nah, couldnt be a wheel bearing, I had one of those go on a Chevy Blazer I used to have. That made more of a squeaky wheel barrow wheel kinda noise before it eventually blew. This is a constant pitch and volume whistle, starts the instant I let off the throttle completely and continues until I put even just a slight bit of pressure down on the gas. Literally if my foot is touching the throttle in anyway, the noise suddenly dissappears and is replaced with the pop charger Woosh. I had a friend stand outside and I drove by the front of my office 2-3 times, he said its only when I'm off the gas (wanted to make sure the engine wasn't just drowning the noise out at high rpms). I constantly hear it @ 40 in 4th without gas, thats when it's at its worst. 3rd gear its noticeable but not as loud. 1,2,5 and 6 there is no noise ever. Im so confused as to what it might be I'm seriously about to risk bringing the G to a dealership *shudders at the memories...*

I have a very similar problem, but mine is a bit different. Ever since I put the pop charger on, which I love by the way, I have been getting a pretty loud ringing noise coming from the engine. The way mine works though, is that under slight acceleration, I hear it loud. When I romp on the gas, it goes away. It is most prominent at about 2500 rpms and cruising in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear. I had the dealer take the pop charger back off and put original gear on, and the problem went away. They say it's probably something I'll just have to get used to if I want the Pop Charger.??
Is this at all the same sound your speaking of??

 

That's your intake if it's the same sound that I think you are referring to. All the G coupes do it.
