Help - Skidded onto the Curb and Broke my Rear Left Axle

So I was involved in my first (and hopefully last) accident today while taking a left turn off the highway ramp onto a road. My coupe fishtailed and the backend slid out hit the curb and the left wheel was broken right off the axle.

I live in Toronto, ON but I was hoping you guys can give me any idea at all at what I'm looking at to get this fixed. The rest of the car is perfectly fine and has no damage. I had a look at the underside as well and that seemed fine too.

Additionally, if any of you are Toronto based G35 drivers, can you recommend a good body shop where I can get this fixed? Thanks a ton for your help guys.

Excuse me for being blunt but I've been a member and owner of an 06 6mt for a few years and can't, for the life of me, figure out how the hell all of these people are doing this to their cars! I know you had to have been driving at some excessive speed or giving it excessive throttle because there is no way in hell you are going to break the rear end loose otherwise! STOP DRIVING YOUR CARS LIKE ASSH*LES!

But to answer your question, looks like you are going to have to replace the rear control arm, knuckle, sway bar?, wheel. I've also seen sideway impacts on a rear axle damage the differential. Sucks but you're right, thank god you didn't hit anyone else

why jump to conclusions? he never said the exact cause, what if someone cut him off or did something to surprise him? what if it was in less than ideal conditions? what if he was racing somewhere because of a family emergency? the possibilities are endless...

im not saying your idea is wrong by any means but way to take such a harsh stance without even knowing what really led up to it

Torrential down pours in the Toronto area last night. I'm not surprised, I could barely see two feet infront of me with all that rain. The thunder and lightening were no joke either.

As for getting the car fixed, I would recommend automacs in oakville. Great place, they service mercedes dealers. Expensive, but the job is done properly.

Thanks Wise-1. As for Cloud 35, I've got an exam today, so I was trying to hurry back home through the rain.

I called around a couple of shops and they think the repair will range anywhere from $1250 -$2500.
