it only happens sometimes though. i usually don't let it warm up as i'm very impatient hehe and wanna get out there and drive already. sometimes its pretty smooth but other times it just sounds bad...but thankfully i'm not the only one and maybe it's just normal..

I'm not sure if you guys are only talking about downshifting in the manual mode. I only use auto and the shifts are pretty much smooth unless I am excessively aggessive. The car will definitley not downshift with the smoothness of a BMW. Sometimes there is a delay and an abrupt downshift. However, under normal circumstances the automatic performs fine. There are never any clunks from Park to Reverse or Drive. I find the transmission to be a great improvement to the ones in many front wheel drive cars where you can feel every vibration through the steering wheel as well as the notorious overwhelming torque steer as in the Maxima.

I let it downshift on its on 3rd to 1st, its smooth. When i downshift to 2nd and let it go to 1st on its own, thats when it feels weird as well for me.

Omar-- You don't have to warm the car up. It wastes gas.

Re: For those with 5 AT!

I've been driving the car around in manumatic to see if I can recreate the slight clunk noise from 2nd to 3rd. It happens infrequently and is barely perceptible, yet it is there and none of the other shifts (1st to 2nd, 3rd to 4th, 4th to 5th) have it. I asked the dealer and he said he's never replaced an auto tranny in the G so that gives me some relief but I will have the dealer look at it when I go in for my window motor replacement. Boy, I think I'm being too paranoid about this.
