I think the door has to be open for it to work, and I'm sure the tranny in park or something similar safety-wise.

looks like bmw knows a thing or 2 about this situation. they have a button as well but on the side and it will move the seat forward and backward at TWICE the speed .. compared to regular power buttons located at the bottom of the seat.

note: if its really slow, then you might have a bad battery... my seats move pretty fast compared to the ones in my TL.

I got it to work yesterday. The door has to be open and you push the button once and the seat goes forward, you push it again and the seat goes back. Neat little trick. At least I know it's not broken.

^^^yup, thats the way it works. it comes in handy when ur letting people in or out of the back seat.

for the button on the drivers side the handbrake must also be set...6MT at least
not required for passenger side

Seat also needs to be leaned forwards for the button to work I believe.

That's a pretty neat option for the coupes. The whole reason I got a sedan was because I didn't want to have to go through all this crap to let people in and out of the car.
