Question on the G

ive been reading posts on this forum for a while now... and seems like so many people are having all these problems with there cars... like transmission, windows, seats and all kinds of stuff... and makes me wonder is it worth getting a G, because i dont want to deal with all these problems.. but then im so in love with the car... and hope that most of these problems dont happen in the 05... especially the clutch and tranny.
Let me know what every one thinks about this, i almost got an 04 last week but now it looks like i should wait for the 05 and hope for the best.

thanks in advance for your opinions

Re: Question on the G

haven't any powertrain problems.

Just a power window motor burning out, and a power seat problem.

No rattles either, I must have the only rattleless G.

Re: Question on the G

I don't think you'll ever find a flawless car. You will see problems with cars on any board you go. Want to see some transmission problems? - go to the Acura-TL forums...
Want to hear about rattle problems? - go to the Mercedes forums....
Want to hear about brake problems? - go to the BMW forums....
You will find problems anywhere you go.
However, overall, I think the G is a very reliable car (and I'm not saying this cause I own one). Also, if you look at the type of problems that pop up here and there on this board, you will see that most of them are pretty low level problems and just satisfactory complains (i.e.: "I hate they way this thing is design...", "what's up with the interior...", "seatbelt rattle....", "windshield cracks...." and so forth), as oppose to some major problems other car owners experience with theirs (mainly engine and drivetrain problems). I've been on this board for a while now, and I've yet hear someone who said something bad about the engine. I've heard few with transmission problems, but if you take those small numbered incidents in relation to the overall number of Gs out there, you'll discover these are isolated incidents.

Re: Question on the G

Yeah, you gotta give a little, take a little. There are problems here and there as there are on any car. Just be glad that you've got a good long warranty.

Buy the new Lexus LS430. I hear its as close to perfection as it gets (from this close girl friend I have, her dad just got the Ultimate Luxury package one).

Re: Question on the G

I shouldn't have put that windshield thing in there. I put there cause someone complained the other day about his windshield, but that was the first time I heard about that.

Re: Question on the G

One thing you have to remember......
a lot of the G owners are young and a lot of the time this is their first car (lucky bastards!)
Some drive like Kamakazies....WFO or nothing!
They havent lived thru the "old days" like us old pharts...
You want to talk about wind noise, rattles, yada ....yada /...yada.....they just don't appreciate how far cars have come.
Cars in the old days were way primitive to our G.
My first car was a 1969 Chevelle SS454.
My '03 G has right at 12K miles and I haven't had any problems.
Just my observation.

"I like you.....You remind me of myself when I was young and foolish"

Re: Question on the G

I agree with EVERYTHING Speedoholic said. Then again we're both GFreaks so...

For brake problems, check out TundraSolutions.com. The Sequoia and Tundra had the calipers, rotors and pads from the Tacoma. TSB upgraded the brakes, but after 19K miles my Sequioa needed rotors (pads were fine???). Thank goodness Toyota is standing behind the problem. My 3 year 36,000 mile warranty was up 12,000 miles ago, but free rotors, calipers and pads are still available to all with problems. OH WHAT A FEELING, TOYOTA!

The above statements are only my take on the issue. If you disagree with anything I typed then you are 100% right!
