The last chapter of my 6MT problems...

07/30/01
After a long battle with Inf customer service they told me to take the loaner back and take my car home because the dealer could not replicate the gear grinding. Because I cant leave work, I send my father to go over there (97miles) and show them the problem. He takes the service manager and tech out on the highway and manages to grind (in proper shift sequence not even skipping) 7 of the 8 times he shifted. Turns out the tech only took it down the road a block or two and wasn't going fast enough to even get it into 6th. So they again call tech in CA who then turns my case file over to the engineering department.

Get all call from the dealer and they say tech ok'd a new 6MT and clutch disk (maybe that will solve the bad throw out bearing noise during idle).

So after two weeks of Inf and the dealer telling me I'm nuts, yelling at customer service, gas and time... they finally admit there's a problem and they are willing to solve it. *SIGH* glad all the crap is over. Hopefully the car will be done this week. Think they owe me a new set of floor mats for the run around!!

Very nice. I can't believe they didn't even test the gear you were having trouble with.

i dont know whats going on these days. it seems that a reasonable approach never works to solve customer service issues anymore. you always have to bitch, scream, moan, and nag if you want anything done anymore.

Is there a "known" problem with the 6MT's? I just bought mine last week, when I was driving it I thought I felt some grinding, but thought it was my imagination.

Yeah, this whole thing has left a real bad taste in my mouth with Inf. The way their "customer service" told me to pack sand and threatened to charge me for the loaner if I didn't take it back, the whole dealer deal... ugg. The crazy thing is my dad was going over the prev dealer history with the service manager while he was there ( I bought the car from the orig owner in Jan). Turns out, the car was taken to another dealer at the first 1,200 miles because there was tranny grind. At that time, the dealer told him it was "normal break in noise" and told him to pack sand too!! What a joke.

Infiniti= it's still a Nissan.

Read the 350Z boards and look at all the unhappy 350Z owners. The G is just a fancied up 350Z.

That's pathetic on Infiniti's behalf. I thought they are suppose to have good customer service. I guess the only way is to buy a Lexus.
