Oil consumption is an issue with all VQ motors, Nissan or Infiniti, FWD or RWD... although some less so than others.

I've had my G35 ever since my senior year. Besides a couple of small issues like fuses went out and HU not working. Mechanically, I cannot ask any better (that's cuz I've never own a honda before). The car is running strong approaching 80k. Never had any real isse with this car; that is, if all maintained well and properly.

Only problems I've had with my '04 are Bose HU and the driver's side power window motor. Otherwise it's a great car. 86K+ miles.

My 1st 2 cars were Acuras and I definetly was loyal to the brand.
Engines and cars were bullet proof.
But when it was time to buy a new car, Acura didn't have a sporty coupe that I was looking for.
So I got an 06' G35 coupe and have no regrets.
It's obviously bulkier than the Teg and less agile but I love it non the less.
With some basic suspension and engine mods it'll put an even bigger smile on your face.
The car has so much soul and attitude.
It looks and sounds so sexy.

I'm not sure about buying a car with +100k miles on it though.
Any car with that much mileage is going to start reaching that point where the big things might start breaking on you or need to be replaced just from wear & tear.

Oh yeah, I haven't had any issues with my G except for fuel thermostat replacement.
Possible OC issue but still going through testing.

I've had a 2005 Rsx Type-S. I drove it for like 30k miles for a whole year then the engine got hydrolocked going through a puddle and all I had was a short ram intake. Got new Engine, few months later Ac compressor stops working. I sold it and bought a G35. So far I am liking the G35 way better. But the transmission on the hondas is very good and smoother than the G.

thanks for the feedback guys. honestly, i think i'm going to be a honda guy for life. i just love their reliability and feels like their cars are very well put together. integra was fine, but the s2000 was by far one of the most fun cars i've driven. and i've driven my friends' 415awhp sti to even a g37. and even the tsx is a very well made car.

but yea... i've had a soft spot for the g35 coupe ever since it came out. i'll let you guys know what i end up doing.

While the G is definitely bulkier than an Integ, it drives differently, is a different feel and is by no means less agile. With a little chassis and suspension upgrades, the G is not any less rewarding than an Integ with the same amount of mods. High speed turns is definitely more exhilarating in the G than in a Honda... oversteer vs understeer...

I thought the oil consumption issue was also isolated to the MT...

Have owned my 04 coupe for only 1 year. Bought it at 44K, now has 58K.
Bought a Nissan extended warranty at the time.
Had to have the driver seat motor replaced and the AC compressor.

Our 05 Sedan has had engine issues:
Timing chain tensioner had to be replaced.

Engine light came on and it took the dealer 3 tries before getting it fixed. Third time they took apart the front of the engine and replace everything that could possibly be throwing the code including the cam shaft sprockets. I did get a good look at how my M1 Syn was doing and even the mechanics were impressed!!!

So far, I've had more issues with Nissan/Infiniti than I did with my Furds and I've owned plenty of both.

However, I love my G's!!!!! Especially the coupe!

If you've had an S2K, you've already been spoiled and no G is going to replicate your experience haha. They're pigs. The S is a fantastic car.

Start looking at NSX's...

It depends on which Honda you're talking about

Also, "exhilarating" can also mean "Oh $&%^#*@" haha

100k miles is a lot for a car??? HAHAHA

My Lexus gs400 has over 200k miles and it runs like it is brand new. Much smoother than my G, but it is a lot less fun and also handles really bad.

To be honest, most people sell them after a few years, right? At least in my experience. I've seen a lot of listings, usually around 60000 miles (which is how i got mine).
I don't imagine people driving them to 200000, though. people tend to drive these hard.
