oil ?

hey guys, i have an 05 coupe manual

i remember a while back someone had posted someting about a new oil that comes from infiniti and is special for our engines?

it reduces wear, when you warm the engine up?

whats the oil called and is it okay for me to start using it if i only have 19,000 miles on her?

Infiniti "Special Oil?" They've finally decided that synthetic oil is good for our engines. What synthetic oil does....runs cleaner and decreases wear not a bad idea! Use Mobil 1 synthetic 5W/30 along with their filters and your engine will last longer and run better....something the rest of us have known for years. Oh and you can start using synthetic oil after only 1K miles so you're safe....

I think you might be referring to the 370Z motors. They run on some "esterified" oil, which is f'ing expensive. There are tons of threads on it at my350z.com But since you have an DE engine, normal synthenic off the shelf oil is fine

edit: Not HR, 3.7L engines

Either way, you don't have to worry about it

Repost: The truth about synthetic oil and yes, everyone has an opinion....=)

The truth about synthetic oil is that if you use quality filters (K&N or Mobil 1) and change it with some type of frequency it will be good for your engine! It doesn't really matter if you use Amsol, Red Line or Mobil 1, that's the truth as I know it....

I agree completely I've actually read before that racing oil (I know red line and royal purple make "racing oil") is great for race cars which are continuously at high rpm's and high high constant heat, but not so good for "heat cycling", like stop and go traffic, short trips, etc. They're just designed for a different type of driving, so I probably wouldn't recommend that for a DD car. Red Line and Royal Purple do make normal synthetic oil, which is fine

Non professional opinions are worthless without raw analysis numbers and professional commentary to back them up.

Not all oils are created equal

So I guess years of experience and having read all the charts doesn't count for anything? And then there's my last Z that I put 125K miles on the clock and it's still on the street. Sold it 6 years ago, who knows how many miles on it now? All I ever used way Mobil 1 and their filters changing it every 3K miles....but this is just my opinion and most professionals would agree with me.

haha nope havent seen it. but i've always used mobil 1 and havent noticed any problems. plus costco sells it pretty cheap for the synthetic stuff. i'm sure there are lots better but it's not like mobil 1 is garbage.
