Re: BURNOUT (HELP)

Take it back to the dealer and have them do the TSB for the transmission. When you get it back it will have an extra pedal and a stick in the middle. Just kick the revs up a bit and dump the clutch! JK JK I am actually curious too b/c I had the same issue with my loaner. I think someone mentioned about having to remove the VDC fuse? Not sure, I wouldn't do that until you get a response from someone that knows more about the autos.

Re: BURNOUT (HELP)

This thread kinda touches on the VDC/LSD never being completely turned off which may have something to do with it.

I am able to get a bit of smoke going in the winter (O2 rich air, cool pavement and cool tires) but there's no way for me to get one going here in Vegas in the summertime without some assist from a puddle.

Kinda hard to do a burn out in a Auto in a straight line, you will get the chirp at the start but not a full blown burn out which will save you on the tires. If you want to play a bit go into a EMPTY parking lot and turn your wheel to the left a bit then break torque to 2k rpms with VDC off and let her rip and keep steering to the left you will burn out and the rear end will get happy with you. You can continue it going for a nice little bit even to the point of riding thru it steering to the right and having the rear end follow you around. Just be carefull that there is nothing around you when doing this if you dont know how the car is going to act.

If you are looking to burn out in a straight line get the manual, but you can learn to play in the auto nicely as well.

Re: BURNOUT (HELP)

When I had the loaner AT Sedan (grin) I took a little dealer frustration out on it, nothing to cruel mind you, but enough to feel better. I was able to get a burn out from the car a couple of times. But like others have said it seems to be a fine line between spinning'm and VDC'ing them. For insance I was unable to do it on a sunny day because the asphalt was to hot and thus better traction coupled with the VDC. Later that night it was another story. IMHO the conditions have to be leaning towards dirty/cold/wet/etc. pavement conditions and a fine tuned left foot to find that balance in braking while mashing the right foot. See if you can find it but don't tourcher the car. Oh and as someone already said, throwing the rear around will easily get you some burnt rubber, just make sure you got enough room.

Re: BURNOUT (HELP)

lol I had that "PROBLEM" too but about 2 weeks ago I figured it out with the help from someone on here I now left 3 12-15 ft tiremarks on the street in front of my house it's really cool but I really have to restrain my self because I know it cost a lot of money in the long run. So far I have done it about 6 times with the same results all at night never during the day so I dunno about the weather/heat/tire temp thing. My method is like this

1.VDC OFF
2.MM mode
3.HOLD BRAKE
4.RAISE RPM'S A LITTLE NOT ALL THE WAY
5.LET OFF BRAKE AND IN THE SAME MOTION STOMP ON THE GAS AND HOLD ON!!

Re: BURNOUT (HELP)

Buy some hard as rock rear tires [high treadwear index ~~ 400>600]............change to the 3.91 rear diff gear......10% more [gear multiplied] rear torque in 1st gear. Nitrous?

Re: BURNOUT (HELP)

People are saying "get a manual," but I've heard that the auto 350z can burn out for awhile (~20 feet) in straight-lines.
