I just read in Automobile magazine that the 2005 G35 coup will have 295 HP. Any else hear anything about that? They also confirmed 19' wheels available. I went through some of the other post, but did not see anything about this.

Heard there was 10,000,000 YEN bonus at stake for the engineering team that could create a REAL 300 HP [299.5000000001] and comply with US emissions and meet 70,000 mile durability.

Makes you think about whether aftermarket product do much of what they promise?

For those of you who don't know, that ten million YEN (as of today) translates into $90,497.74 USD for the entire team.

Engine lab teams are usually less than 10 members so $9,000 would get my attention. But they already squeezed the pumpkin pretty well with narrower bearings, lighter crank, redesigned rings, etc. Anyway these things cannot be changed quickly........kind of limited to software or assembly tolerances at this late date.

Remember HP is measured [in Japan Labs] with Conventional high aromatic gasoline..........doubtful this is available at many standard pumps in US.
No where do they promise power will be the same on US Oxygenated fuels nor our oils.

Actually it does, Infiniti, being the more luxury of Nissan Motors. Are A, More expensive, and B, should have more HP, why not? We are paying more, so we should get the better end of the stick. Not all cars should be made equal. Did it make sense when the G35C came out, and it had 8 less HP then the Z, but u end up paying more? Hmmmm. Late.

 

They're going to need the 15 ponies to lug around those 19 inch wheels. My money is going on the cam and flywheel. The flywheel makes sense, notice how the 15 HP is only going on the stick.

The Z is more of a sports car than the G...we are more of a GT car than the G. We pay more because our interior is roomier and ten times better than the Z. We wish we had the Z performance, the Z owners wish they had our interiors. It is easier for us to get those 7 ponies than for the Z owners to get better seats and more luxury.

I think the hp is coming from more free flowing, polished exaust and intake system. Btw you can get many aftermaket luxury parts for the 350Z.

 

the Z is ok I still think the G is better it should have more power IMO who cares what the Z has or doesn't have I drive a G not a Z so that's the least of my problem. You probably think that the next skyline should be a Nissan too instead of a infinti ya I'll see a bunch of people running to buy a $80,000 Nissan, your dreaming infiniti already has an established name here more then nissan does so I guess that idea goes through the door.

I am sorry but Quierx37 is absolutly wrong. I've rode in both cars, because I have friends with both cars. The difference is HUGE! Now do not get me wrong, I LOVE the Z, and I think it is an awesome car, but the G's inteior is light years above and beyond the Z in comfort, space, luxury, detail, charisma, functionality, and physical attractivness. It almost cannot be compared.
