Re: Tranny

I am having the same problem, grinding into fifth. I am also on my third tranny and expect a fourth soon since they are only lasting about 1500-2000 miles each. My dealer said an official fix will be out end of April and then I will get the real fix. However, at that time, I am just going to use the AZ lemon laws and ask for a new car or my money back.

Re: Tranny

Wierd that they keep replacing the transmission, not sure how you can get the same problem with a whole different tranny. I don't have any grinding problems in my coupe, neither does a coworker that owns a Z so it's not a problem with all the 6 speeds.

Hope they find out what's wrong with your car instead of swapping tranny everytime you get the grinding. About the lemon law, it's not as easy as you think. You might have a easier time getting the dealer to buy back the car if you are that unhappy, I know i would if they replaced my tranny 3 times.

Re: Tranny

hey all good luck with your trannies....im glad its not everyone who is having problems, seems to be about 5-10% of everyone who has the grinding problems, like i expected it was the syncros! Glad there will be an official fix in april, great news man!

The reason they do a full swap is because nissan said so. The dealer replaces yours with a new one then send the broken one back to nissan for inspection, and probably repair/refurbishing. You think they are putting refurbished transmissions back into your cars, or is it brand-spanken-new?

Re: Tranny

What size and offset are your wheels? Did you do a 2" drop or more. Your cars stance is exactly what I envision for mine but with polished wheels so I am getting ideas and info. Thanks.

Re: Tranny

OOPS. Well I don't really car who owns it, I just wanted to know if anyone knows how much of a drop and the size and offset of the wheels. I really like the way it's sitting, (stance).
When I upgrade my wheels I wanted them to sit flush with the wheel wells when I drop it, just a little.. Peace....

Re: Tranny

So what are you saying? Drive it till you break the tranny and then blame Infiniti when it happens?

Re: Tranny

coupe I know what your talking about. when I shift to 3rd, 5th or sometimes back into 1st I feel something hitting. It doesn't shift smoothly. I don't care about the dull knotchyness, but this abrubt feeling of scraping something in the tranny bugs me.

I brought it in once and they said it's supposed to be that way, obviously they don't know what I'm talking about. No matter what I told them the service manager still told me it's supposed to be that way. It's been a thousand miles since that check up. they already have me on a list to recieve the control arm/compression rods replacement. the shifting is getting a little smoother at 4k so I guess I'll wait 1 more k then complain again.

Re: Tranny

the notchy gears are still the problem with mine. But I drive mine pretty hard. OVA where you bring yours to? I just had mine brought in today at pleasanton, and they found that my stress bar or whatever that thing was dented. supposedly I hit something but didnt realize. Anyway that stupid bar costs $320 to replace.. man if its a anti roll or sway then im leaving it alone, get some aftermarket ones later.

Close call was it was at the spot that was exactly under the gas tank. So whooosh..!! Thank god. Anyway, things are fine now. I'm waiting to see what happens with the 6MT. doesnt seem like theres a problem now.
