Clicking Noise in the rear

I have the Coupe 5AT. Whenever you put the car into gear whether it be drive or reverse, I hear a clicking noise. The noise can be described as sounding like a coin being shook up in a plastic container or cup or something. I know its comming from the rear because yesterday someone was moving the car and I heard it for myself. Anyone experience this sorta noise yet???

Yes. I have a 6MT coupe and I hear a clicking noise coming from the rear of the car just as the car begins to move in 1st gear. Do you have any mods that may cause the noise?

Do a search using my screenname. I covered this fairly well as I went through the same thing. Long story short, at 3K my axles made the same noise, they were tightened and fine until 11K. Took it in again, they said they couldn't tighten them anymore and ordered me new axles. Been good so far....only a few hundred miles.

Same prob here. Had it before and after my sways and springs were installed so its not that. Took it over to the dealer and they found the rear axel bolts were loose and re-torqued them. No more clicking!!

Sounds like its unanimous as to what I have to do. I just hate going to the freakin dealer. However, my car is due for inspection and I might as well get an oil change too. Can I take it to any dealer or is it just to the dealer that I bought the car from?

Re: Clicking Noise in the rear

I heard it from the drive side rear, but only when I am traveling in a tunnel; so the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem. They basically told me "yeah right". I only go into NYC every 3 - 4 so I have not heard it in awhile.

Re: Clicking Noise in the rear

I have this very same problem. I thought it was the H-TEIN spring on my rear right side, or maybe the Hotchkis bar I put in, but now I know what to look for. This sound was driving me crazy. It happened on first or maybe second and reverse at very low speeds.

Re: Clicking Noise in the rear

Yea I know the noise is freakin ridiculous. Usually now when I drive my car I just turn my music up all the way. Ignore everything lol. I got roadside assistance. I m going to make my service appointment, but once again does it have to be at the dealer that you bought the car from???

Re: Clicking Noise in the rear

Just watch the noise! Roadside assistance can't do much for ya if your axles part ways with the rest of the vehicle and then god knows what happens!
