Paint on Carbon Fiber?
Paint on Carbon Fiber?
Recently I've seen some carbon fiber hoods being sold ebay that are 'painted'. I had previously thought it wasn't possible to paint on carbon fiber? If so, why are people leaving their carbon fiber hoods not painted? I don't know about you guys but a white car with a black carbon fiber hood sticks out like a sore thumb.
Re: Paint on Carbon Fiber?
carbon fiber can be painted like any other fiberglass type surface.
I think the whole idea of carbon fiber is to leave it natural, so you can see the weave pattern in the gel coat, also revealing the light weight part that you have put on your car...........

Re: Paint on Carbon Fiber?
But don't carbon fiber hoods already come with a clear coat? so that would actually need to be 'sanded' off first prior to it being painted? Hrmm.. does anyone know any good stores that cell decently priced carbon fiber hoods?

I have the VIS vented hood on my G, and had it painted oem pearl white. It looks fine.
