Re: Bose stereo

The Bose in the G is a disappointment after previously having a Maxima with Bose. But if you want the Premium Package you have to get the "upgraded" Bose; and I think that is the only way the 6MT Coupe is equiped

You just supported what I mentioned above. It was like taking a step backwards for me.

Re: Bose stereo

I was responding to your post that says "everyone feels" -like I said - everyone doesnt feel the way you do.

<font color=red>"NO! Everyone feels that the bose isn't worth the money. When U get the bose upgrade all your are getting is a bose amp and bose sub, in actual fact people feel that the bose upgrade is worthless and that the stock setup actually sounds better. But thats up to u. Many people end up changing their speakers...and if your enough of an audiophile...just stick with stock and save your money to upgrade."

Re: Bose stereo

hmmmm. another thread about the quality (or lack thereof) of the "BOSE" system. Its worth it to get the Premium Package...

Remember, the "BOSE" system is composed of a CLARION HU (not BOSE), crappy paper wafer speakers in the front doors and backseat side rear panels (just inspect them for yourself for their "quality" production), BOSE 6x9 subs and a 225W? Bose amp in the trunk.

I really do think you're paying for those BOSE speaker grills on your rear shelf more than the components that come with the system. lol

To each his/her own...... if you like FM quality CD sound, muffled highs and unbalanced mids and lows, then hey, the Bose system is ok for you. I mean its not a that BAD system.....seriously

If you like better EQ control (you could just insert an EQ into the BOSE system), better quality sounds and you ARE an audiophile and of course, if you have $1000-4000 to burn (since you already have that Vortech installled), upgrading the BOSE is a whole lot better.

Listen to other drivers' G's who have done things to their "BOSE" system and you can tell the difference in sound quality. If the differences don't really matter to you, then leave the stock system alone and keep chanting to yourself to convince yourself "it sounds good, it sounds good, it sounds good..."

Everyone has their own opinions, we should try to respect them..

Re: Bose stereo

NO, I HATE THE BOSE. All caps because I was yelling, LOL. I would have paid $900 to have them leave the base stereo and give me the Premium package. I have removed several Bose systems from cars and always get a kick out of the *premium* equipment that it consists of.

Bose has got to be the best marketed hype ever in the audio world. Their home equipment is marginally better than what's available at Wal-Mart for insane prices. Go listen to a Mark Levinson equipped Lexus and you'll understand then drive to a well respected home audio / theater dealer and listen to some Paradigms.

Re: Bose stereo

The only thing I like about Bose are the home THEATRE systems. While watching movies, all sounds are crisp and accurate from all directions. Listening to MUSIC on a Bose home system is equally as bad.

The Bose in our cars is horrid. If it didn't come with the premium package, I imagine many of us wouldn't have it. It's funny because the Bose only adds two 6x9 subs and a cheap little amp. Does this make the sound "premium"?

Everyone who says that the Bose sounds fine .. I'm sure it does .. compared to your average Ford Focus standard stereo. If you sit in a Lexus with Mark Levinson .. WOW... And if you sit in any car with a good aftermarket setup .. WOW. You'll hear the difference.. I guarantee it.

Re: Bose stereo

Ahh Ok...understood..LOL...

Umm...Gotta agree...I think bose is kinda hyped up...I think the reason why people believe bose is sooo great is because ppl don't realize that they are marketed as a great buy. For the price...you get speakers that are pretty good on all ranges....Yea the mid range isn't that great...hence the no good music...but in general the systems u get at home are pretty well equipped for the average autophile, that isn't picky about tone and range. Now for those of us that really really listen...then we really know that bose isn't high up there in quality of sound. U ask someone on the street if they know Oulfsen and Bang or B and W speakers...and they will just stare at u...but when U ask them about bose...they will acknowledge they have at least heard the name and at least heard something good. Therefore I come to the conclusion that I think ppl believe that bose anything is good, when in actual fact in may not be what is it hyped up to be.

Thats just my .02cents....and excuse me if I implied too much....hehehe Don't mean to imply...just mean to state what I think...

Re: Bose stereo

The Bose is not worth $900. It is worth -$600 to me so I can buy other components to help fix the sound (EQ and quality component speakers)

Bose's philosophy on sound is to decrease the midrange, making bass and treble seem better. The Bose amp has weird EQ levels for lots of bass and treble w/ no midrange. I hate it, I am often tweaking the levels to no avail.

Read this on bose acoustimass and you'll get an idea of what Bose is really about. http://www.intellexual.net/bose.html

Re: Bose stereo

"What does the SCV do anyway?"

SCV does nothing for the actual sound quality. I am guessing a bit on what it stands for but I'm thinking Speed controlled Volume or something like that. All it does is increase the volume when you get to a certain speed. Adjusting it just changes how much it does this by. I find the lowest setting to be most appropriate as high tends to be too noticable.

As far as the Bose system, it sounds better than many factory stereos. That's not saying a whole lot of course. If you are really picky about how well your sound system performs, I doubt there will ever be a factory system that will ever suit your needs. The system I had in my 240 had much more clarity and did so over a very broad range of frequency. It was quite well balanced as well. The Bose is decent, but by no means the best. I've found maxing out the treble to 5 and setting the Bass to 2 has given me the best overall results. The Fader set at 0 seems to still have a bit of front bias which is good since you want to shift the soundstage forward. So it seems like Bose, at the least, had that in mind. It's only unfortunate that they decided to use 2 6x9's instead of even a single sub. With the bass setting higher, you can kind of tell it's filling from the rear which means it's note reproducing the lower frequencies as well(lower frequeny waves are longer and harder for the human ear to figure out where it's coming from). So the 6x9's are probably only effectively reproducing the mid to high bass frequencies. I wonder if they did anything to try and seal the air behind the 6x9's. Speakers benefit greatly from this when trying to reproduce lows since there is less noise cancellation between the sound waves created from the front and back of the speaker.

Re: Bose stereo

..I'm not a car audio expert, but when I first bought my coupe and heard that Bose was in it, I was pretty excited (due to it's "reputation" for being a decent home stereo system). Then after driving it off the lot, I popped in my first CD, and was like, "this sucks". I twiddled with every setting it offers and the sound quality still blows.

I have a Montero Sport (as my winter car), and it came with an "upgraded" system called "Infinity" (no relation to Infiniti). There's an amp underneath the passenger seat, and I tell ya, the sound absolutely rocks. Simply blows away the Bose, especially at higher volumes. Oh well, at least during the winter I get to hear how my CD's should really sound...

Re: Bose stereo

Maybe its the cabin acoustics but my stock JBL system in my Toyota Highlander sounds better than the stock Bose system in the coupe.
