I had been driving BMW's for the past 15 years prior to buying the G.
I would probably buy an M3 with SMG.

I was going to buy a 95 BMW 850csi. The guy was offering it for around 28 or so with 35000 miles. A pretty good deal. The only problem is trying to maintain a 12 cylinder car that is A.)A very limited run exotic, and B.) an out of warranty BMW. I love the g now and am very thrilled with it, but I can't help wishing sometimes, however, that I had that 6 speed and 5.4 v12 all to myself

 

A used Lotus Espirit.

 

I'm surprised by the variety as well (lots of similarities, too, but many are 'alternative' choices to the G already).

If I had to buy a different car right now (versus Dec 02 when I got my G), I'd probably wait a bit for and save up some $$$ for the SLK350 that's coming out, the Lotus Elise, or even wait for the M45/35 coming out.

If it had to be 2 dr coupe with usable back seats in the same 'price' range, I think I'd end up with a 330Ci. I liked the way the C320 drove, but I'm not too fond of the 2-dr body style.

I honestly also like the Altima 3.5SL and Volvo S60R, so it'd be a tough decision.

I actually had a deposit on a 330ci, but because of a strike they were having in Germany, the wait would have been too long....
I test drove the coupe a couple times, and decided that was what I really wanted anyway.....and saved about 6,500 in the process

Looking back, I have absolutely no regrets!

I had decided to buy the TL but stopped at an Infiniti dealer to take one more look at the G35 on my way to the Acura dealer, and changed my mind.

 

IS300, 350Z, or a RX-8

 

Toyota Supra Twin Turbo 6 speed 325 horses Stock

 

Mustang Cobra, Z06, or for the extra coin, an M45.

Wait for Toyota to smart-en up and bring the TT Supra back
and sticker it for about near blown out 35K, save the 2K on the Navi....goto mapquest = analog navigation...paper and pen..LOL

but seriously .....the Supra would be my choice...keep hope alive , its comin back...and I bet it wouldnt rattle and creak..LOL...and have maybe half or a third of the TSB's
