Thinking about upgrading to 2006 coupe..
So i've been thinking lately about trading in my 2004 g35 for a stock 2006 g35. I'm looking at a stock obsidian black coupe 6mt with about 12,XXX miles, they want around 28K. It'll pretty much be like my coupe now but newer, but STOCK!! I still owe alittle money on my car from buying it used, but i figure if they can buy it for that ill be free and clear. My man concern is...is it worth it? Starting over with all the mods. I really like my car, but i want more power and i know the 06 came with a wee bit more, and that its easier too squeeze out a bit more.
Go from a modded 2004 with 66XXXmiles to a stock 2006 with 12XXXmiles, and a extended monthly payment. Just looking for some input.
thanks!
thanks!
Well...i dont have any of the OEM parts anymore..lol. I can prolly take off my spacer, if i can find the OEM bolts again, and maybe my suspension got some Z struts/shocks laying around. But I really like the g35 in general, just looking at one that"s newer, and a little quicker.

also..here's a link to the actual car.. http://honolulu.craigslist.org/oah/ctd/1421431635.html
If you really want to stay with the G. I say go for it. The interior is nicer. And I love the bluetooth especially having a stick. Try and see if you can find some of the OEM parts before you trade it in. That way you won't have to start from the beginning. Even though with the 06 you'll want the MREV2 as well as the spacer.
Finish paying off your car then sell it. Unless you can sell it for what you owe on it, but that isn't very likely.

Doesn't seem worth it to me at all for that little extra bump in hp, unless your current car is falling apart or you're hellbent on getting a better interior. Oh and it's not any easier to get power out of an 06 than an 04, so I'm not sure what you're talking about there.
For the extra money you'd be spending on the newer car, and then redoing all your mods again, you could probably go with a conservative FI setup on your current car. Or if reliability is an issue, check out some of the NA builds on my350z, there is still a lot of room for improvement without going FI. And as far as looks, given how common your color is, you could also do a complete exterior conversion to 06-07 (headlights, tailights, sport bumper and sides) for a bit over $1k if you look for deals.
So I guess my point is, you're obviously not going to be happy with a stock 06 G35, so it's prety self defeating to spend more money on something that's not ideally suited to you. My advice is to keep your current car and spend that extra money making it into what you want.

However, I wish i had the interior of the 05+
I dunno... Per an invitation from a dealer I test drove a G37 - When he saw my low mileage '06C 6MT (6,400m) he offered $25,750/trade (G37 @ $44K). I declined; I like my '06 G35 better (really felt the extra weight of the G37 and didn't like it). I have no doubt he'd have priced the traded G35 at $28K or better. Low mileage & "unmolested" (as he referred to stock 6Mts) coupes are very scarce, he assured me. I suspect that's true... but as always, YMMV...
