Exclamation Big oil filters

i be at 23k miles on my coupe now and i be like wantin to do an oil flter but they ran out of the st6607

so i go online and stuff and found that some people use the st7317 or fram ph7317 instead - it like longer and stuff but i still use it the fram tg7317

it longer so i think better for the engine - anyone use the bigger filter?

I've not used a larger filter on the G but I have used larger filters on my Mustang before. I like the larger ones. Gives a little more protection

I use a purolator PL14610. It is larger than the stock size PL14612 and I have never had any problems with it.

I personally use the 7317, I just feel the stock size is too small. Try it out, I'm having no issues, and as far as I can tell it will not harm the motor. And make sure you change your oil filter every oil change.

Yes, Fram is junk. For the same kind of money, I suggest you make the jump to Purolator Pure One oil filters. They're about 6 bucks. I run an oversized one in my car.... the PL14610. I do the same thing in my truck and have been doing so for the past 3 years in both vehicles. Mobile One are fantastic filters too but they cost twice as much as the Purolators.

Honestly, i don't think size matters with oil filters. In the past i've used the M1-105 and as far as Blackstone is concerned, the M1-108/110 is performing just as well using the same oil and OCI's.

Longer is always better, you of all people should know that. Or maybe you don't, and that's why you talk so much ****.....

Any reason you needed this thread in 2 different sections??

Normal size for me just K&N....!

I've heard all the negative feedback about Fram filters too, but on my last Z I put 125K miles on it using Fram filters without any issues although I changed my Mobil 1 every 3K miles so that may be why I didn't. I use K&N oil filters in my G along with Red Line synthetic 10W/30 so no worries.... Funny the first time I saw the size of our filters I asked the autoparts clerk, "where's the rest of the filter?"
