Hello, I had my eye set on two vehicles that are a great price, low miles..clean cars. They are located about 600miles from me though, I called them up and they let me know they two cars (both G's) I'm interested in are rebuilt/restored. They said the state certified them or something like that. I'm not familiar with the process of rebuilding and/or restoring cars. I would imagine if I do buy, it will hurt my resale value. Secondly, I'm wondering what the risk factors are when buying a car classified as such.

If the car falls within the factory parameters for a warrenty, will having a rebuilt title void that?

I need to know what state you are in, because each state has different laws on this. Now its good and bad. Bad being that the car was crashed. Good that at least you know. One insurance company will total a car for 40% if its value in a crash, others will go up to 80% So you could by a G35 with a clean title that had 79% damage to it. Or buy a rebuilt title G35 that had 40% so witch is worse? It will save you a lot of cash when buying the car but you will not get as much for it if you sell it. One thing you want to do is call your insurance company to see if they will even cover you, because some wont.

I bought a salvage title G35 before. It had bean stolen and the guy dident want it back. So I bought it for a great price and sold it for more

 

i think it voids the warranty and also the fact that its rebuilt, ill never trust that for a car. maintenance costs in the future will be a PITA

A rebuilt/restored title is a nice way of saying salvage. You don't know what's happened to it, in order for it to even be named a salvage the damage had to have been worth more to fix than the car was worth.....so I wouldn't buy it. Can't have warranties on salvage cars, resale value will be way worse, and you don't know what could go wrong with the car. I'd stay away.

thats not that good of a price for a salvaged.

 

I've been in the market now for about a month. And from what I've seen, year and miles that's not a bad price. "normal" cars in this year and milage are easily 3-4k higher or more.. unless I'm not looking in the right places. Most things that cost less have visable damage, front end, side collisions, etc.

 

16 for a 05 with < 60k miles isnt bad.
rather get a non salvaged insuring a salvaged car would cost more in the long run anyways

 

In my honest opinion, you would be better off buying an 04 w/ higher miles clean title than an 05 w/ 60k miles salvage. And like someone else said, 12k for that isn't even that good of a price. I live in so-cal and have seen a few 05 and 06 6mt's with 50-60k miles w/ asking prices of 16k (obviously can haggle them down a little). Keep lookin you will find a good one!

 

^ that some1 would be meee! . seems to me like ur on a budget crunch, in that case u shouldn't be looking for an infiniti, its a costly car, and taking shortcuts wont work.

 

Haha yes. Or find a dealer friend, pay him a little green, and look into some dealer auctions as I am doing
