Colgan Bra issues(loose)

Hi, I did a search but didn't come up with anything related. I bought the Colgan bra for my 2004 G35c. The hood section fit just fine and the straps reach and hook into the correct holes. The bottem part, however, doesn't. There are 2 hooks on each side of the engine compartment which are supposed to hold the bra snug against the car. The hook closest to the grill reaches and hooks into the correct hole but the hook closest to the headlights don't reach the only hole that looks appropriate. Anyone else have this issue with their 2004 coupe? I double checked I ordered the bra for 2004 coupe. Thanks for your help in advance.

There are 2 metal hooks that just hook onto the bottom of the grill and there should be a couple more pairs on bungie-cords on the engine compartment side that fit in some plastic holes next to and behind the headlights.

oh wow, I have the same issue. I just got it last week and I took a trip to vegas. The bottom piece comes very loose near the headlights and it was flapping against my car sometimes. I am gunna e-mail them and see what is wrong. It seems liek the bra has warped and become very loose.

Re: Colgan Bra issues(loose)

I noticed a while back when I put the bra on a few times it did start loosening up. I emailed colgan and they took it back and sent me another one. Kewl

Re: Colgan Bra issues(loose)

I have a Colgan mask for my G35c and find that it's very tight (flat) to the bumper and hood panels, yet easy to install. No flopping at HIGH...way speeds. So long as you're following the install instructions, I'd give Colgan a call to get thier assistance. I'm sure they will reolve it promptly. This is the best fitting mask I've had on any of my cars. The mirror protectors fit very good as well. Overall, the mask does change the looks of the car, and gives it another personality. In that respect I like the idea that I can change it at will. Good luck.

Re: Colgan Bra issues(loose)

Thanks for the replies guys. I've been emailing back and forth with the Colgan guys. They want to make sure I got the non-aero bra since my car doesn't have the front aero package. From the way you describe the headlight hook it sounds like it should be someone elastic, like the hooks closest to the grill. I hope they overnight me the correct one since I'm going on a 3 day roadtrip halfway across the US this Saturday!

I know a lot of guys swear by them....but I tried a Colgan bra on my BMW for a cross country trip several years back...tried to keep it clean and dry.
It wound up leaving a definate mark in the paint on my hood.....never again for me.

Re: Colgan Bra issues(loose)

I bought mine used off of someone on this site and haven't had any problems with it (just went on a 2500-mile road trip with it), with the exception of the top corner flaps between the hood and headlights not staying down, but that was nothing--just a 2-inch flap sticking up 'cuz nothing was holding it down. The bra as a whole stayed snug and secure and left no marks. It did absorb a lot of bugs though, which wiped/washed off easily--much easier than trying to wipe them off the bumper itself. Who knows how many rock chips were prevented from having it on?

BTW, Colgan was willing and able to help me out by phone on the installation, even though I didn't buy a brand new one from them. They even faxed me installation instructions. Give 'em a call if you need some help.

Re: Colgan Bra issues(loose)

Those flaps are actually sleeves that fit over the pointy pieces of metal right underneath them. If you look at the underside of the bra, you will notice that those are open rather than sewn shut.

Mine fits like a glove once properly installed and adjusted. No flapping at all.
