G35 coupe in the snow?

Im new here and gave up a new M3 for a G35! I have an 05 on order and should be here oct-nov. My question is will the car perform excellent in the snow with snow tires. I live in north jersey and sometimes theres blizzards!

also this will be my first nonBMW car, had X5, E36 M3, and now E46 323. but these cars are nothin but problems except for the E36. and for the price of the G35coupe with the power, I hope these cars are reliable.

Long Island here. Snows work fine on a G. I had the stock (03) 17" A/S and in the first snow last winter, slid around...hence the snows.

I also live on Long Island. I will say this again loud and clear. If your G has the michelin pilots. YOU CANNOT DRIVE IN THE SNOW!!...or you may die Do I need to repeat it again? You will need snow tires such as the blizzak LM22's.

Live in NW Indiana and used snows last year. Did quite well actually. This year though, I'm garaging the car to avoid the salt and miles. My winter pack is currently for sale.

I live just north of NYC and put 18" blizzacks on my stockers. Car works great with snows on it. I never had any problems at all.

Re: G35 coupe in the snow?

I completely agree w/ you blitz. I always find it amazing that people who can afford a car like a G35c are sometimes too cheap to buy winter tires, even though it may save their lives.

Honestly, the G35c's tires are designed for performance in dry conditions, they are useless in anywhere w/ ice or even just snow. RWD + 18" performance rubber is a recipe for disaster in winter.

Re: G35 coupe in the snow?

Driving the G in even a dusting of snow with michelin pilots is a death wish. You need to buy snow tires. I invested in Blizzak LM22 with some ok looking 17 rims.
You need to get the tires early those suckers sell out fast

Re: G35 coupe in the snow?

We dont' get much snow in the DC area and I won't always be taking out my G but I'm a little worried about the 17's A/S in the snow here. Is it going to be okay? Anyone in this area give me some insight??

Re: G35 coupe in the snow?

I live in Southern Ontario, and get similar weather to you. My Coupe is fine in the snow with Yokohama AVS snows (all 'round).
You're prolly aware that the Coupe comes with dedicated summer rubber (Michelin Sport Pilots) and altho they perform well in warm conditions, are worse than useless in cold snowy weather. (read: dangerous).

You're on the right track with having snows on the Coupe.
Some of our members have Blizzaks, and are happy with them too.

Good luck with the new ride, I guess you're thinking to have the snows ready for when she's delivered. I did same back in Jan. 03 and am glad I did.

So you can put snow tires on the 18"s? For whatever reason I was under the impression everyone was getting 17"s for the winter and putting snow tires on those. Great news for me =)

Re: G35 coupe in the snow?

I have another question, does the 05 coupe come with keyless entry?

Re: G35 coupe in the snow?

I got seperate 17 rims with winter tires because I did not want to #@$ up my 18 with winter driving, also it is a whole lot easier than the annual mount & balancing deal

Re: G35 coupe in the snow?

17's are recommended for the snow tires. It is much easier and better in the long run to have a separate winter setup

Here is a picture of my car with the Blizzak LM22's with ASA K3 rims from Tire Rack:
