Resale Value & Market Flood
Resale Value & Market Flood
One of the issues that I was struggling with before I went with the G35 was the resale value (I was debating between the 330 coupe and the G). BMWs maintain their value over the years. Are there any opinions on the anticipated resale value in the next 6-7 years? Does anyone think that that the roads will become flooded with the G35 coupes like BMWs? The reason I went with the G/coupe is because 330 coupes were so common. I hope this does not happen with Gs.
Thoughts?

Re: Resale Value & Market Flood
I think in the last two years Infiniti has really turned things around...a kind of a 'face lift' if you will. I never pictured myself owning and nissan, infiniti, or for that matter, anything but a honda or toyota built vehicle. As I'm sure for most of you...the G stole my heart. And look at everything Infiniti has come out with in the past two years...and now the FX...??? I think as long as the G's don't have some kind of major problem or issue...and they production numbers don't go through the roof...we should be ok...IMO.

Re: Resale Value & Market Flood
For whatever reason, Nissan/Infiniti vehicles have never had strong resale values, especially when compared to Honda/Acura.
I don't think Nissan build quality is any worse, nor do I see a lack of demand for Nissan products. I don't know what to attribute the poor resale values to.
I do however hope that Nissan's resale values start to improve with this new crop of awesome vehicles (G35, Murano, FX etc.) as I plan to keep my new G35 for several years and would love to see a strong resale value in 5-7 years.

Re: Resale Value & Market Flood
i would think that there newer cars should maintain a good resale value. I think the FX45 and 35 should remail high aswell as the G35 coupe and saden maybe more for the coupe. However i dont think the M45 will have a good resale Value maily because so one buys that car. I also hope that they dont produce more then the number they did this year of coupes. But the rumor is they are going to make less sadans and make more coupe which will hurt the value. I guess we will just have to wait and see

The only thing that will hurt the value of resale is plainly and simply DEMAND.
The demand of these cars is high... regardless of how many they produce, the coupe is going to be a hot seller for many years to come.
The build quality/performance/looks of the G will keep the G drivers in there car.
Not in something else, minimizing resale generally in the long run.
If it was a crap car, then you nor would anyone else have bought it.
Essentially the BMw's have maintained a high resale value due to the quality and name they have built for themselves.
The only Bimmer I'd trade for the G relatively in the same price range is a E46 M3 or a 2001 and UP Z3 M coupe.
BUT, there NOT in the same price range, so gimme a modded TT G when available UNDER Warranty with RSpec and I'm much happier.
The fact will remain constant, if someone wants it, it will sell.
The resale will stay high, it's up to us who have it now to KEEP IT HIGH.
and of course Nissan and Infiniti, to keep pumpin out these wicked a$$ rides.
CAR OF THE YEAR. Bimmer Beater !!

Re: Resale Value & Market Flood
Had a 2000 328Ci loaded! List was C$56,000. Three years later, couldn't sell it for C$36,000. Never happened before.
330/328 BMW's are losing their extremely high resale value. I think the competition is putting a dent into their cache. As well, there are alot of them, you can get them as a 320 for thousands less, the style is in it's 5th year.
Having said all that, they are amazing handling cars. Their resale value is still very good. While I love my G35C, I don't feel like I got 87 more ponies. And after driving my G for a few weeks, the 'little' things start to remind you that the German's think just a little better at each and every detail in their design and engineering. The reality is you need to pays the big bucks to get to appreciate the 'little' things. Sometimes it's not worth it, sometimes it is.
I believe the G will improve on the resale value of past Infinitis, and if the competiton don't come up with new amazing cars in the near future, and the G is a reliable car, then nobody will need to sell theirs, which means demand will outpace supply. Simple isn't it?

Re: Resale Value & Market Flood
With the number of BMW models available and the length of time the style has been around, I can't see any way the G could be as common. Nobody seems to have held onto a style as long as BMW. If I see 2-3 coupes a day, no biggie because I will have seen 20 BMW's. And I'm going to enjoy beatin' up on most of them !! ...dean

Re: Resale Value & Market Flood
Nissan is definately starting to make changes. I wouldn't count them out yet. I'm hoping the G coupe will follow along the same lines as the Toyota Supra. Even the base models that are several years old are still selling for more than 16k. Albeit they were pricey even when they were common. All I can do is hope..

Re: Resale Value & Market Flood
jimmy, what are the little things that you liked better about the BMW? Besides the obvious interior quality gripe?
I think you have to also remember that the G has a few annoyances that are just "new model kinks" that will be worked out. The E46s have been around for a while now so they've had a lot of time to get the small things worked out.

Re: Resale Value & Market Flood
this was the number one question i had before buying my car... and they showed me their answer... the infiniti dealer showed me a paper of all the estimated resale values straight from the bank... something like that... it was like the all international bank.. never really payed attention to the company of the bank . but the resale of the g35 was .51 percent and the resale of the bmw 330 ci was .49.... meaning it had a higher resale value after a 4 year time period... the G has totally revolutionized the name INFINITI.... after i saw this... i was confident in my purchase.. and have never been happier..
