G35c goes against E46 M3s
G35c goes against E46 M3s
Well, sort of
I spend my last weekend at the race track in NCC BMW CCA sponsored event. So there was a lot of BMWs to compare with and I must say that G35c(Intake only) on street tires did VERY WELL. even going against SMG E46 with modified suspenssion.... I was practically the fastest car in my group for a while until front tires started to give up... Driver experience is similar = NONE.
Did not really expect that...
here is a little in-car video action:

photos are coming soon...
enjoy

Re: G35c goes against E46 M3s
oh, yeah... VDC was off all the time(well most of the time as soon as i remembered to turn it off) and there were plenty of drifting everywhere. It's a very technical track... 1.1 mi, 7 turns(with couple of them off-camber and fast, and few others with 2 apex, some increasing, some decreasing).... 4x20min sessions each of 2 days
So there is a lot of drifting, pushing, trail-braking and curb-jumping...
The only complaint I have is the car does push more then it should.... At the end of Sunday, my front left tire was DONE(too hot)... ABS was kicking in with almost no break input and the tire was begging for mercy.... This is the time people were passing me as i had to slow down. I came in and looked at the wheel, it was smoking(literally).
Other then that, car did EXCELENT. Brembos ROCK!, power is very good, good enough to give 333hp SMG M3s run for the money. Handling and feel is excelent, the dialed push keeps car very stable(little too stable, but can be corrected relatively easily). S03s work quite well, but not when it gets hot. in 70-80F cloudy weather they were excelent, but when sun came out in 90-95F day(probably heating track to 120+) one of them with most load would overheat in 3-4 laps... i.e. need softer front or add camber to front to control push...

Skidpad... painted and very wet surface. much of it is on purpose-by-accident
learning control in under/over-steering... it was very easy to over do it in 2nd gear at 30mph, a tiny blip of the throttle creates massive slides
... very entertaining

GREAT video. What cameras did you use and how did you mount them...that was awesome!
2 G or NOT 2 G, there is no question!

rear mount is a reverse cam under the bumper in the center... Something pretty generic and not too great(hence focus is eh). Front mount is Sony bullet cam in front of RW mirror(I don't like this location an will change it)... Thinking of either puting it in the back to get driver as well, or mounting it in front bumper or side mirror to get it closer to the ground... need to play with it.
It's all connected via TV-tuner and switch that lets me switch view quickly from driver position. The recorder is in the trunk(a sony digital 8 camcorder) used as VCR only

Re: G35c goes against E46 M3s
oh, sidenote:
for information on this (and other) event go to
http://nccbmwcca.org/
For anyone interested, they are doing another event in October at Summit Point... My opionion=best spent $300 ever! It's not a race, but a safe and legal way of teaching you how to drive FAST! You have personal instructors in the car with you at all times and they give you increadible amount of info....
I've always thought of myself as a pretty good and fast driver(in street terms), but you quickly learn that you are not all that great when you get on track.... And after that, in 2 days you get WAY faster.... i mean WAYYYYYYY!!!!! faster!
It helps if you are member of BMW CCA, but you are not required to be(just harder to get in this way)
