Automatic g35

I have an automatic g35 and I was wondering if anyone had put an intake on and other mods to make it quicker even tho its an automatic. Just wondering if its a good idea to add mods to the engine or just leave it stock.

Mine is a 5AT and I plan on eventually doing everything short of a turbo for my G

Ok cool cause I wasnt sure if it was a good idea to add an intake, headers and all that kind of stuff to an automatic car.

Best bang for the buck:

1. Ztube
2. JWT pop charger
3. MD plenum Spacer

Voila, you just added 23-25 HP.

I have an auto g35 as well..

Contrary to what previous poster said neither ztube, or a popcharger will give you much. The only "best bang for the buck" mods for our g's are spacers ( Motordyne!!), and then test pipes/or HFC ( Fast Intentions, or wait for Motordyne to release theirs.)

Anything else you do for the G won't be worth the money, except maybe a ecu tune, or some suspension mods.

Personally, I have a Fujita Intake, mostly for sound.. Although it might be coming off because of heat soak issues. Then I have a Stillen True Dual Exhaust, which actually makes power.. but the money/hp ratio is ridiculous. If you do end up getting an intake just for the sound make sure it has a heat shield.

I'm doing all that plus exhaust and a grounding kit to start off.

my spacer made a difference that i noticed...besides that a k&n filter and z tube gives it a good noise when u step on it

yeah, I wish mine was 6spd as well. I should have gotten 6spd, but I was lured to my 5AT because of remote start and navi. DARN DARN DARN

Supposedly the grounding kit makes the shifting in manumatic mode crisper. So that might be the way you want to go. Didn't try it, so no idea if thats true or not. Def looks cool in your engine bay.

Just remember, when you're racing a 6mt and he misses a gear and loses to your 5at, you'll be the one who'll have the last laugh about the tranny debate.

okay, that aside, 6spd is funner to drive. of course, I will be kicking myself for buying if everytime I am stuck in heavy traffic, but I still prefer 6spd.

I'm with you man. I used to own a 2002 GTI 5 speed and loved it. All of my cars have been stick. Until I found the love of the triptronic....

i put an AEM intake on along with a different bumper cover that has an opening right where the new air filter cone is. Seems to work for me.
