more information on the car = more resources to determine whether u should buy
while carfax is helpful its not always accurate.

body shops dont report those type of things (cosmetics) therefore some repairs either by body shops / chop shops are not in the carfax

As far as the NO TAX thing is concerned, that completely depends on the state you live in. In many states, you have to pay the exact same amount of tax on the car regardless of whether you buy it from a private party or from the dealership and also regardless of what you pay for it. I know that here in Mass., they calculate and charge your tax amount for the car purchase when you go to the DMV to register it, and it's based on some Blue Book value of the car, not the actual amount that you payed for it.

If you're considering the possible No Tax thing as an incentive to buying private party, make sure you look up the rules in your state as to how they handle tax on private party auto purchases... because it may end up not saving you anything in taxes.

I'm curious why you'd go from a Corvette to a G, unless you need a back seat.

To the OP, I think you'll be happy with the nav/premium package. Mine's not an 06, but I love the package in mine. Find one fully loaded. You should be able to get one in your price range. Make sure it wasn't modded... if anything, gentle mods are ok.

Remember that you can always add an aftermarket Navi, speakers, etc. later for cheaper.

That guy spends thousands on modding his car but couldn't afford to put on some '06 headlights. FAIL
