Blind Spot?

Hello,
I'm new to the board....I'm considering a G35c within the next couple of weeks, and I've heard mainly good things...the bad generally being interior quality and back headroom, etc. But I heard a new one the other day being the driver's blind spot? Can anyone attest to this? Is it a major problem?

Thanks,
Zach

Re: Blind Spot?

Position your mirrors so that they look a little past your sides -- you shouldn't see your sides in them -- and you'll be fine.

Re: Blind Spot?

The interior of the G35C is not bad in my opinion. The quality of the leather seats is very good and so are the rest of the materials used in the cabin.

Visibility is OK on the Coupe, (not as good as the Sedan). Like Dubiux says, you just adjust your mirrors to compensate and your fine bro.

Re: Blind Spot?

Completely agree with you on the driver's side blindspot but I gotta have the car !! If the passenger's side view was as bad, I would've passed on getting the coupe. I have changed the way I set the side mirrors, used to always catch the side of the car then knew they were set as I expected. Here's how I've set it up now: Lean you head close to the window and then adjust the driver's side mirror to catch the side of the car. Optimum is when the left headlight of a car passing on the left starts to move out of view in your rear view mirror, the right (I think) headlight starts to show up in the driver's side mirror. When the rear of the car is almost out of view in the side mirror, the front bumper should be in your left peripheral vision. For me, it's not a big deal with the passenger side. Give it a try.
I'm a little less concerned changing left as I don't expect to get passed too often and going too fast to worry too much about looking right after passing someone. ...dean

Re: Blind Spot?

As far as the materials used in the cabin, you will frequently hear complaints about the quality of the "titanium" trim used in the Coupe. Apparently it's really easy to scratch.

Re: Blind Spot?

Not pointing fingers, but I'd say 75% of the driving public don't adjust the mirrors properly. I always laugh when I'm directly behind someone, and I can see their eyes in all 3 mirrors.

The only mirror that should see directly behind you is the interior rear-view. Then, you should adjust the other 2 side ones so that they have a tiny overlap with what you see in the rear, and show back behind the sides of the car. If you think like a clock, facing 12:00, The interior mirror should cover the area from like 5-7, and the driver's mirror should cover 7-8:30, passenger side should cover from like 3:30-5. If you adjust like that, you get pretty much 3:30-8:30 coverage, and the only "blind" spot is from 8:30-9, and 3-3:30, and since cars aren't a few feet long, you really can't lose a car in the blind spot if they're adjusted correctly and if you have good periferal (sp?) vision. I don't have any real blind spot in my coupe, and IMO, the visibility is just fine.

Re: Blind Spot?

nas4a: finally another driver who uses his mirrors correctly. It always irks me when i'm behind a car and i can see the driver's face in the driver-side side-mirror... what do you think those are for!? you don't need to see behind you 3 times...

Re: Blind Spot?

Yeah, I've never understood that. My girlfriend almost had like 3 blind-spot accidents with me in the car until I adjusted her mirrors for her, now she knows too. I guess the term "rear-view" mirror throws some people off.
