Thumbs up Hardwired Escort Radar Detector (PICS)

So I've been thinking about getting my Escort radar detector hardwired for some time now (i.e. 6+ months) and finally had it done yesterday! I absolutely love it. Mike's mount gives it the flush appearance and the hardwiring eliminates the use of batteries!

It does look good...

I gotta question, is it easy to disconnect, and take down? I drive thru Virginia every now and then and there not allowed in that state.

Super easy. Just unplug it and remove it like normal from the clip.

I hardwired my passport in right next to the driver's side tweeter. I like it better there because it doesn't obstruct my view really.

That said, you did a great job and it does look good for where you have it.

I did mines but i took it down the same day. It drastically reduces your reception it suxs my opinion. I put it back in the default location i had it. I did hard wire it though.

I read some where if u get caught with a radar detector the cop/trooper can take it and issue you 2 tickets (1 for the speed and 1 for the radar). Is this true?

When you turn on your car, does the radar go into LASER and stay there for a few seconds? I just did this mounth with the hardwire and everytime I start my car it does this. A couple of times it just stays in LASER and i have to unplug and replug the power.

It's illegal in only a couple of states.

Other than those, it's completely legal to have a radar detector.
