Found a 04 IP 6MT with only the Sunroof option for the sticker price of 34K and 37K out the door. What do you guys think about that price? Is the Premium package that much of a difference if you only care for a sunroof?

 

I'm going throught same thing, only I'm waiting for the 2005.
But I figure: If I am going to upgrade the stereo system anyway, why not just get the sunroof and be done with it.

 

According to the Inifiniti website, the price of a 6MT is 32700 + 1000 for sunroof. So you are paying sticker price. I think a lot of people are getting money off sticker now, especially with the 05s on the way.

Note that the premium package also includes Bose stereo, Dual Zone climate control, automatic headlamps, auto dimming mirror, and homelink trancieiver.

I don't know if any of those features are important to you, just something to think about.

Premium package is bull. Dual climate control? Do you really think you can control two different zones in a car? Do this. Set one side of the car to 50 , set the other to 95. measure the temp in the car it will not be either. I have never owned a car with a sunroof that didnt leak, get stuck open or used very often. The only thing i would get is the bose stereo, but they will not give you this without the whole package. pretty clever way of making money. I will try to order my 05 with only thebose and see what happens.

 

I got premium just for the Homelink and the Sunroof. The dual climate is crap .. Well at least the girlfriend feels she has control over her zone haha. The Bose is similarly crap as well. It only adds two weak 6x9 subs, but let's not get into tearing the Bose package apart for the 10,000th time again.

Yes actually you can. All of my cars have dual zone, and it's very useful. I like a nice cold breeze when I drive, but my wife hates it. So I usually have mine set between 65-70, and my wife sets her side between 74-80. It's not a matter of what the temperature of the car is, just the temperature of the air coming out the vents to make you comfortable. I've seen cars that are tri-zone, with the back seats getting their own temp control.

All my cars also have sunroofs, and they never gave me problems. One of them did leak, but it was because of a kinked drain hose, that took all but 5 seconds to fix. I have a combined 170,000 miles on my other two cars, and never had a sunroof failure of any kind, and they get used a lot. Everyday by me, even in the winter. But I also make sure the rails are always clean and lubricated.

 

Get the car. I've never had a problem with sun roofs, and I've had them since my '85 Porsche 944. The only things I'd miss on the premium package are homelink and the auto turnoff lights. Heck, my Isuzu PickUp stripper even has those. But, you can add homelink after the fact, just remember to turn off your lights. Also, check out the price - seems high. Any dealer add-ons?

Yeah, I just bought a Gentex Homelink Autodimming mirror for my other car. Turns out, the factory homelink mirror in the G, is this exact Gentex mirror. So if you want to add it after the fact, it will cost you $219.00.

 

I agree. Dual climate doesn't mean you'll set one to 60 and one to 90 (unless you have Mr. Freeze and the Human Torch in the same car). Usually girls like it warmer and guys like it colder, so if you want a few degrees warmer and a few degrees colder, that works best. However, you could always make the girl put on a jacket :P

i ordered my 6mtC in june of 03. got 1000 off msrp back when it was fairly unheard of to get discounts.

i ordered mine sunroof only. the other items in premium didn't mean much to me, though everyone is diff. the stereo is fine, though true audiophiles dislike even the upgraded bose, i couldn't care about the garage door opener. auto dim mirror, some like some dislike. whatever.

i got the first of the 04's, and since the dealer didn't pass on the price increase, i ended up with 1250 off THEN.

think about it. the 05's i'm sure will have some improvements, but rumour has it you'll lose HP and the brembo's.

man..your info on the 05 is pretty off.....we all pretty much know what the upgrades gonna be on the 05's...so...

 

AVS, damn if I had known about the Gentex mirror a month ago, that would have been great info.

To the OP, get the car w/ just the sunroof. Get the Gentex mirror. Skip the Bose, it is not an 'upgrade' nor 'premium'. Skip the auto-on headlights. I have it but it is lame because in the daytime, if I drive into the garage they turn on, so I don't even use the auto feature.

I have never had a sunroof leak, except for one time when I left it open and it rained =) but that was obviously my fault not the sunroof's.

Thanks for the feedback. Ive already check with 4 dealers in So. CA on the 04 models.. and the best deal i got so far was that one. 10G down 500mo for 5 yr. Nothing less than msrp. ill probably hold my temptation and wait out the year.

 

Keep talking to the dealers and come month's end, they will give you discounts to make monthly sales figures. I bought my G on 7/31 and got some $$ off MSRP. I was shocked that I got anything off MSRP, I was planning on paying full sticker.
