New Member Intro - Considering a G35
New Member Intro - Considering a G35
Hey guys, what's up? Just thought i'd introduce myself as it's customary to do so when joining a new forum. I couldn't find a "New Members" section, so I figured i'd create one in the section that pertained to myself. Anyway, I dont have a G yet, however, i've always loved G's and the v35 engine in general. Let me give you a short back story. I recently paid of my 2000 Honda Prelude. And I put alot of work into it. 5spd swap, leather seats, retrofit headlights, suspension, few bolt ons, paint job, oem lip kit, rims, suspension, and a street tune and a bunch of other stuff. Nothing serious, but she's been my baby for 5 years. I recently paid her off a month ago. I was set to finally start saving up. She's got hardly any miles on her considering the age.
I've been through thick and thin with this car. I've learned alot of dos and donts. Especially donts. I prided in my lude being clean. And i got alot of praise for it. The car just hit 80k miles on it. Untill the unthinkable happend. I got in a car wreck. It's not bad, but it prompted me to step back and think. I've always wanted a car with more potential. A car that's sexy and luxurious, but affordable. I always loved the G's exhaust note. I think that's what drew me to the Gs and Z cars.
Sure I could fix the car, but lately, which is unusual, ive just not given 2 ****s about my prelude. I normally would was the car weekly. I was so **** about my car. I'm sure many of you can relate. But lately, ive been thinking about a new car. Ive thought about an m3, s2000, 350z and G35. The G was the mixed of all the worlds I want. Unlike an m3, it's not gawd awful to maintain. I wanted something with good tq, hp, and just pure sexiness. Anyway, I'd like your input on your experience with the G35 coupe. I was looking at a white or black 2006+ 6MT. In the meantime here are some pics of my prelude. And some shots after the slight wreck. Thanks for your time guys.

After collision: Sorry pics are from cell phone the night of the accident:

I know it doesnt seem bad, But its worse then you think. I think i borke an engine mounth and the frame behind the headlight as been smashed all the way about 6 inches. Since my car was paid off, i took off comp and collision. The following week, i had this happened. Life just hates me. But the other drivers car was fine. A huge suv. Figures. Anyway, it would cost me more then 1k to fix it. New hood, new fender, new retrofit headlight, repaint, fix the frame. Just isnt worth it. Right now, im just driving it as it is. And im contemplating a new car.

do you mean oil? I'm not too worried about that. My prelude eats up oil. I always carry a qt with me anyway. Especially if i drive it in the high rpms alot. Driving in the vtec range does that.
I just like the 06+ becuz of the slight design upgrade. Like the projector bi xenon headlights and such. i like the G becuz it's got everything i want in a new car. Funny, ive not test driven one, Ive been in one and reved it up and i creamed my pants. I still gotta test drive one to really see.

clean prelude. I think you'll have a hard time finding people on this forum telling you anything but to get a G. That is why we're here after all!
If you're not happy with your prelude, I would get a '06+ G if I could afford it. For the same reasons you listed. Don't forget the updated interior in '05. I think that's a major + over the 03-04. The other thing to think about is that you probably won't be satisfied with a stock G, and these things are definitely not cheap to mod.

yea it would be nice to find one under 20K with payments at around to what i was paying on the prelude. About 300 or so a month. How much are you guys paying for yours?
See, I'm 26. And the prelude to me now just does not fit the image I want anymore. I want something more mature and nicer. Unlike the prelude where I modded the crap out of it - with the G id hardly do anything. It's already sexy. I might get an intake and maye some nice tires and rims. Unless it comes with the nice rims that i sometimes see. We'll see.
