I just received an email today from Infiniti stating that in some 04-07 G35 coupes the radiator fan motor may become in-operable causing the engine coolant temperature to rise and making the engine protection logic limit the vehicle's speed to prevent any damage to the engine.

Due to this, Infiniti has extended the warranty of 96 months/100,000 miles (whichever occurs first) ONLY to the radiator fan motor.

Its also states that if you previously paid to have your radiator fan motor replaced due to failure, you may be eligible for reimbursement of the expense for parts and labor.

In the letter at the bottom right, there is also a extended warrant sticker attached to.

 

has anybody had theres replaced already? what should i look for before this happens and messes anything up?

yup bought mine used as well. i took it in for the axle fix and they registered it under my name and i get all the updates.

A couple of days ago took my G35 Coupe out for a family Saturday drive. Got off the freeway and entered the shopping center parking lot, noticed some weird noise coming from the engine, next thing I noticed steam blowing from under my hood! Got out and noticed a trail of coolant fluid trailing my car and finally leading to a pool under radiator area, passenger side. Called AAA and had my car towed to Infiniti service on a Saturday later afternoon to check my car in. Monday mid-day it was all completed, they replaced the radiator fan assembly, did some additional work on the airbag connectors and washed my car. No charge! Everything was covered under this extended warranty. I saw someone post a $750.00 charge to have their fan assembly replaced. Difficult thing is it's hard to predict when it will happen. For me it was working fine one minute then suddenly overheating. I didn't want my aluminum block to melt so I decided to have my car towed to Infiniti (only 5 miles away). However, just wanted to tell all that Infiniti of Hawaii did not charge for any parts and labor (and the car wash!).

Yea similar story for me last week. Noticed AC air wasn't getting cold when at a stop, but got colder when moving after a while. Then on the highway and everything seemed normal, temp needle near middle, AC was cold. But getting off the highway and into city traffic the AC would get hot again when at a complete stop. Then i noticed the temp needle creeping up past halfway.

Good thing decided to head home early instead of more errands cause as soon as i shut off the car (temp needle at H by this point) i heard what sounded like gurgling... opened up the hood and saw coolant literally boiling inside the reservior tank!! It kept creeping higher and thought something might explode so i ran away lol. Then i saw the coolant actually flow out via an open valve at the top of the reservoir... good thing it had that overflow protection. Apparenlty the fans weren't working whatsoever for hours.

Orlando dealer was absolutely awesome! This all happened on a late friday (of all days) so i expected them to be booked solid until the following week. But they said this was considered an emergency they'll try to squeeze me in early Sat morning. Got a nice G37 loaner and waited all day. Turns out both fan motors were bad, and they also did the airbag connector recall. Total bill was almost 700. Not a dime spent, everything back to normal again. Got an 07 5AT... didnt expect fan motors to die that sooon

This warranty extention is only for coupe ? I have the same problem on my 06 G35x... i'm at 58k miles.. but over the 5 years warranty!

Last time I tried having something fix on warranty it was that axle click problem and they told me it was not under warranty. I was at 53k but still over the 5 years...

By the way i'm in Canada... Maybe they're more picky on warranty here...

 

I am having this same problem. Saturday while troubleshooting with some friends we noticed the fans wont' come on.
We put the AC all the way up and held the peddle at 2k rpm for like 5 minutes to get the engine hot and the fans won't come on at all.
I spinned the fans manually and then they started, but would stop after a while and would not come back on until i manually push start them. just got off the phone with the dealer, they said to bring the car tomorrow to determine if the cause is cover under warranty. I hope it is, these fans are expensive.

 

I have the same issue, where my fans aren't working and not kicking in even with the AC. I called my local Inifiniti dealership and they say the part is covered under the warranty. I'm new to the whole warranty thing, is the part and labor covered under warranty...or just the part itself? If it's just the part that's under warranty, does anyone know what labor might run and how long they'd need the car. Might need the GF to scoop me and take me to work. lol

 

It's too bad we need to wait for the fan failure and the possibility of cooking the engine. They really need to change the fans before it destroys the engine.
