Viper System/ Premium Package Q's

Ok, first off I am new to these forums and in the process of buying a 2006 G35
(Figured for the money cost g35 to g37 my budget will go much father on a 35 for similar look and performance - correct me if I am wrong).

First question is:
I am on the fence with getting the premium package and not, there are mixed entries with what the premium package includes apart from the base model.

I know this for sure, premium package 2006 that the keyless entry and ignition as well as the bose sound system is whats included along with a skylight in that package.

For me the skylight is not a big deal to lose and I almost always replace my sound system... and I plan on putting a high end viper system (I don't live in the most stellar of area's) with the keyless entry and remote start. But I would like to know what I would stand loosing if I didn't go with the premium package.

Question 2:
Anyone have any experience with the viper remote start, when I turn the car on does it require me to put anything else into the car to put it in drive (like a key) or can I just unlock the doors and get in and go. Secondly when i talked to the rather aloof best buy guy about installation he said there was no way around the infiniti's keyless entry other than to completely disable it (hence question one and not wanting to get a premium package if all i was missing was a moonroof/keyless/bose sound.

Thanks everyone, hope to get some help!

To me the sunroof alone is worth the cost of the premium package. I'm not into convertables but having the sky above is something I've gotten used to with my last two cars. When it's raining you can push it forward for some added fresh air cause you can't roll down your windows, unless you like floods.... I've never had issues with leaks and zero noise if you keep the rails clean.

No not much into floods, my last infiniti had a bad sun roof leak... tried stopping it up and everything... just couldn't get it to stop.

I have the Viper 5902 remote start system installed on my 07 5AT coupe with the keyless entry/ignition.

You don't need to put anything in the car to drive off. You'll need to have an interface module installed for the remote start to work, and you'll also need to carry around your stock intellikey. I just keep my intellikey seperate in my pocket and never take it out.

You press the remote start button on your viper remote, press the unlock button to get in. Without pressing the brakes (cause it'll turn the car off) turn the ignition a couple clicks to the right (forgot what it's called, but you don't turn it all the way), and then you can press the brakes, change gear and drive off. Again, you do all of this with your intellikey in your pocket the whole time.

So basically...

So I guess the guy at Bestbuy was wrong, i can still have my keyless entry with my inteli key in my pocket as well as start. I was like... maybe you don't know how to do it... I mean, I was sad to loose such a great feature.

Nice to know that was just plain wrong.

Anyone else know the difference with base and premium models exactly? 2006

Oh one last question when you say to press the button to get in, do you mean on the car button (the little black button next to the handle) or the un lock button on the viper key chain.

Well you would still have to unlock the car with the viper alarm first, before you try to open the door with the keyless button. You'll be able to open the door, but your alarm will go off lol. Pressing the keyless button on the door handle won't disable the viper alarm since both alarms have nothing to do with eachother.

In other words, having the viper alarm does make the keyless features kinda useless.... But not completely useless, as the features do still work as long as the viper alarm is disabled.

Try looking on infinitihelp.com for info on the packages.

I think you can have the dealership install some remote start and program it to your intellikey. But I don't know what other alarm features it has (if any), and the range is limited.

At first I thought having to take both fobs would be a drag, but like I said, I just keep my intellikey in one pocket the whole day and forget about it. I don't keep both fobs on the same keychain, otherwise it'd be bulky.

The amber lights behind the the gauge cluster... sorry for the un-specificity.
