Smokey
Smokey
Hey Guys.i drive a 04 g coupe..I got into my car tonight started it up and warmed it up for about 30 seconds...I put it in drive and began to drive..I came up to a stop light about a mile away, when all of a sudden i see smoke coming out of my exhaust(left side if you look at car from behind) while i was stopped...and the reason why i am worried is because the smoke took a very long time to stop....about 1 to 1.30 min...It's 62 degrees here so i don't think the weather has something to do with it. Does anybody what the problem is....should i worry???? Thanks
That's freaky, but when this occurred your coupe must have been running crappy....right? Something made one side quit or at least part of it. I'd take it in to Nissan since your warranty is probably long gone and they charge less than Infiniti. I don't know maybe a wasted coil pack would cause what you're describing or a plugged injector....

To the OP:
Did you get a bunch of rain the night before or have a real low dewpoint at night? You may have just had a ton of condensation in your exhaust that was burning off as the system warmed up.
Could differentiate from the look and/or smell of the "smoke" if it was just steam or actual smoke? Did the "smoke" have a fishy smell?... Have you checked your coolant level and motor oil level lately?
Black = Good, Combustion
White = Bad, Water and oil burning
Blue = Bad, oil burning
Am i wrong?
Blueish is oil burning
white is coolant and has a sweet smell
black is incorrect AFR
there also is grey smoke...to little fuel
Anybody running just water in their g35 should give their car to me and go back to a honda.
It most likely is condensation, and alil bit of smoke or condensation upon start up at a cool temp will happen, its normal.
