i just installed LED lights in my car. even when my map lights are off (door is closed im driving) there's a faint light coming from them. when the car is off this happens too. is this normal of LEDs?

Does this offer the effect like BMWs, where they have a faint orange light shining down on the center stack/shifter?

^no, those lights are actually "on" they are illuminating lights like the range rovers, range rover calls them "moon lights"

the "light" that is coming out of the led's are normal, i have them too, and no it does not effect the battery

Ah, so that's what they're called.

Someone make a DIY for a moonlight on the G!

Like already stated, its a normal occurrence with LEDs. Doesn't happen with halogen bulbs because the require more juice to power up. If halogen bulbs were low wattage like LEDs they to would give a soft glow as well.

I haven't noticed it and I drive some dark roads here in Puerto RIco were some country roads don't have poles with ilumination. I'll check on that.

My bro has this in his 2009 Civic SI as well, I believe it is simply to provide light for the gearbox (I guess in case you forget where the gears/reverse are?).
