Do you all use the auto headlights feauture?

I was wondering if most of you keep the headlights **** on auto all the time. It is a very convenient feauture but I am hesitant to keep it on due to the following reasons.
My car is parked in a garage and everytime I drive out of it, the lights activate for few seconds(during the day). Then, whenever you enter a short few seconds long tunnel drive, same thing or a parking structure, etc.
I heard that I should treat the xenon lights with extra care.
Do you think keeping it on auto all the time will shorten the life of the headlights?
Or should I just not care and enjoy this convenience we have paid for?
Thanks for your thoughts.

autoheadlights are on when the sun goes down, when i know the headlights will stay on when it turns on. useful when i go to bars and leave drunk, forgetting to turn on my headlights
it's usually off when i get home or driving around daytime.

I'd like it even better if it went:

off - parking - auto - lights

or

off - parking - lights - auto

instead of

off - auto - parking - lights

That being said, I don't use it when I leave the house, but sometimes I'll turn it to auto after I leave. I don't want it turning on in the garage... I probably shouldn't worry about it. My other car's xenons turns on in the garage, and I can't turn off the auto-on, without disconnecting the fuse. And its been like 3 years since I installed xenons on that car, and they are still fine. It would be nice if I didn't need the Consul-II to adjust the timing delay though... They seem much more sensitive than my other car's auto headlights. With the other car, I need to be in the shade for at least 20 seconds or so. It seems like the G flips on the lights after like 5 seconds.

I leave mine off during daylight hrs, and on just b4 dark.
Like you, I don't like the HID's coming on for a short time.

You Bet I do! Love It! It's a great feature. My stripper 98 suzu PickUp truck has this feature. It should be standard, not part of the Premium Package.

Factory HID's are quite durable to sudden on/off, so you're
probably okay from premature wear.

I keep the headlight in the off position because I noticed that
the headlight's dont shut-off right away after I turn the engine
off... I don't like draining the battery.

Always use it but I wish there was a "headlights on" indicator like the one in my wife's lexus.

Yea me too. I cant tell if my lights are on or not sometimes. I check in the cassette deck and see if that light is on. Is there another way to tell if the lights are on or not when its cloudy or dusk?

Doesn't your dash get fully illuminated with the lights on? Turn down the dash light a bit and then you'll know.

Re: Do you all use the auto headlights feauture?

I would be much happier with the feature if it were to keep them on while the car is on and automatically turn off when the drivers side door opened (no light sensitivity). That is how the automatic lights worked on all of my previous cars and I have gotten very used to it. Now I turn them on when i turn the car on and turn them off when I get out. Has anyone had the dealer adjust the sensitivity? I am thinking of having them do that next time the car goes in (max out the sensitivity) as it is an option using Consol-II. Too bad we can't adjust this stuff ourselves because there is also a lower sensitivity adjustment than what comes stock, this may be an option for you guys who feel it's too sensitive. Just a thought.
