You tell me this a MONTH AFTER I placed my order?!?! WTF!
You tell me this a MONTH AFTER I placed my order?!?! WTF!
I placed an order for a G35c, Carribean Blue, cloth interior, Tire and Wheel package, Aero, and no sunroof on March 9th. A MONTH later (today! god damnit) they call me and tell me this:
1) You can't have Tire and Wheel package with cloth+no sunroof (basically base car).
2) There is no "graphite cloth" interior. Only willow. Now this wouldn't be that much of a problem if it wasn't for the fact that it took them a month to tell me this.
That was A WHOLE FREAKING MONTH after I "supposedly" placed my order. What are these people thinking?
How did they not know there is no "graphite cloth" interior when I placed my order? WHY CAN'T I HAVE THE TIRE AND WHEEL PACKAGE?? I'M PAYING YOU FOR IT. And why did it take so long to actually start working on my order???? So now they are saying I have to wait ANOTHER 3-5 months on top of this? What is this bullshit?
About the tire and wheel package, they probably screw you over SO MUCH with the pricing of the leather that they might as well give away the 18's for free....I'm starting to hate Infiniti.
This is complete and utter incompetence. This is the only dealership within an 80 mile radius from me. I drove to the one 80 miles away and they didn't even want to "waste their time" on me....Consumer Reports will hear about this.
Does it matter that I'm not spending $36k+ for an Infiniti and instead paying $33 for a "base G35 coupe" without all the crap that I won't need?? Does that make me a low-life or something? Jesus christ! If Mitsu's Lancer Evo had an automatic....I would have been gone from here long ago. I can't wait for the dealership to try and haggle with me when the car does arrive...

Re: You tell me this a MONTH AFTER I placed my order?!?! WTF!
Go to the Infinti.com website. When you build a car, it tells you that you can't order packages with the base (cloth) model. It's the lowball priced car to get heads turning.
Your dealership should have known this, that's their job. Sounds like incompetence to me.
So was your final order?

Re: You tell me this a MONTH AFTER I placed my order?!?! WTF!
That is ridiculous! How can a sales guy not know about the extras on the car? Maybe they just want to hook you in and then a month later tell you the problem so that you can maybe say" Oh okay, I'll get leather then". Bastards! It's not just Infiniti, I went to Mercedes Benz to order the new CLK 320 and it was tough with them too. After I realized that the G had 65 more horsepower for $14,000 less, I cancelled it and went with the G. Can you believe that the Honda Accord has more HP than the CLK320? That's crazy!

Re: You tell me this a MONTH AFTER I placed my order?!?! WTF!
I can certainly understand your concerns, the dealer *should* know that stuff by rote long before you walk in the door.
That being said, I would think anyone that isn't disgustingly filthy rich that's about to plop down 30 grand plus on a car would have done some research on their own before stepping foot in the showroom.
Personally, I had spent literally hours on Inifiniti's website, at the sites of Car and Driver, Consumer Reports, Motor Trend, IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety), and many others before I even walked into the dealership. Maybe it's just me, but I figure the more I know about the car before I walk into the dealer, the less baloney I'm going to have to put up because I can call them on any of it.
One last point: The G35 Coupe is a DRIVER'S car, pure and simple. Why the heck would you willingly, and purposely choose to buy one with an automatic? That seems to defeat the purpose of owning such a fine automobile in the first place...

Concur with that. I spent a lot of time researching and comparing online before I even stepped foot in the showroom. I did know more about the model variances and options than the salesman.

Thanks for your opinion.
I did spend time researching the car. I have been researching the car since the concept coupe was shown. I have been doing countless hours of research on the net about the setup that I wanted for my car. The only way to finally make sure was to walk in and talk to the dealer. How was I supposed to know that the salesperson doesn't know what he's doing? But there is only so much you can do up untill you walk in there. Thats what the salesman is there for, to tell you what Infiniti can and can't do. Yes I didn't check the Infiniti website to see that the base car can't take the T&W package, but why was I not told this when I placed my order? And why did he tell me that "Ok, you can have the cloth in Graphite" but a month later "oh sorry, willow only" And why does it take so long to actually PLACE an order? It took them a whole month to write down some paperwork and send it to the factory? I know i'm skipping some details, but seriously, it can't take that long.
And please, spare me your idiotic "Drivers car" propaganda. I want an automatic because thats what my situation demands. What you told me is an opinion, and you know what they say about opinions. If by "Drivers's car" you mean "sports car" then I'll tell you this, if I wanted a sports car, I would have bought a Vette. The G35c is a car like any other car, so if the Nissan Maxima has a 6-speed, it's also a "Drivers car" and by your definition a "sports car"
Ggirl: I agree with you, it amazes me at how much the consumers are paying only to get [censored] over in the end. I know it's better than in the past, but come on some of this is just pure BS.
tcatrio: yeah, the "Salesman" wasn't in too much of a hurry to help me even on the day that I placed my order. I mean, why are you running up to me like a Lion to fresh meat when you won't even do your job correctly? I know he's not going to get "commission" right way, so thats probably why he was hesitant to even give me the correct answers, or even do research about the product he is selling.

Its because your order missed the March allocation, and today is when all of the dealerships accross the country put in their April allocation of cars, so the dealership is putting in your order today but realized the errors in your order.
You have to think of it this way....you cant special order your car 100% the way you want it, if infiniti let you do that, then there will be so much chaos at the plant and they would lose alot of money that way. Thats why they have packages that require other packages and so on
But really though, it was your salesman's fault for not checking the prereqs of all of the packages. I dont think there is anything you can do other than order the base all stripped out, or go with the leather.
Life is tough i know

I don't see why they can't just give me the damn 18's without pushing me into getting premium package (leather). If it wasnt for the LSD, i wouldn't care for the T&W package. Now I have to spend $1700 for 18's AND not have LSD. I'm really starting to reconsider this whole Infiniti thing.

Re: You tell me this a MONTH AFTER I placed my order?!?! WTF!
Most of my previous car buying experiences have usually seemed the same with regards to the "buy the package to get one wanted option" racket. Not just an Infiniti thing. But, regarding the "DRIVER'S car" comment.....Drive a few years in the Dallas traffic and tell me you don't wish you had an A/T. I've driven my share of sticks and love my bad *** A/T coupe more than any of them, pure and simple!

Re: You tell me this a MONTH AFTER I placed my ord
In my pre-purchase research I found out that the only cloth is willow and that there are no options on the base model. It didn't take very indepth research to find these out. Simply using the Infiniti website, Edmunds, or KBB would have told you this. With that being said, the ignorance of the dealer is completely unacceptable.
Wanting the cheapest G35c does not make you any less of a person, but wanting an automatic does j/k

Re: You tell me this a MONTH AFTER I placed my order?!?! WTF!
In this day and age, I agree with you that we should be able to "Customize" anything we want. We can do this with cars made in the USA and Domestic brands. But with the manufacturing plants for the "G" in Japan, Infiniti like someone else said has to set ordering guidelines based on what they think most buyers would want from market researches done. This gives them better efficiency an control at the factories.
I don't think you can 'hate' only the saleman, it sounds like total dealer incompetence to me. How can you run a business like that, just taking someone's money and not sitting down with them and making sure you can order as specified??!!
