Re-sealing tail lights

Hey guys,

I got my hands on a used set of tail lights for my car, so i decided to cut them open and paint the inside black. They turned out really good, now i'm trying to decide on how to reseal them.

any ideas what i should use? silicone?
anyone else do this mod?

I recall reading about using glue to first seal it together and then silicone? I don't think silicone will be strong enough if your taillight gets hit by something but not sure

I heard that silicone makes fog inside of the light. Rubber is the method from what I heard. But, dont trust me.

I use a combination of JB Weld and Goop (you can buy both at home depot). The Goop comes in a blue tube.

ive done this in the past and had a bit of trouble resealing them..i found that a black DAP watersealant(used on house roofs) works best and looks better too since the inside housing is now also black..keep us posted and post some pics too

pretty sure tail lights have to be cut open with a dremel. i did a set of altima tails a few years ago and they were glued together not sealed like the headlights. +1 for pics

that blue goop from home depot was junk...

I ended up using just an off the shelf clear silicone with a cocking gun and a smoothing tool (cant remember what it was called)
it did an awesome job
i'll take pictures on monday
