Am I killing my G ???

The first 3 months of driving were great. Id press the gas lightly and the car would spring into action. It was scary but oh so wonderful too.

Ever since then I keep acellerating all the time but the car doesnt "kick" in like it did when it was new. Now it drives almost like a 4-cylinder. Theres just no jump to my pump. Whats up with this?

I heard somewhere on this forum that its the ECU. I tried those methods of braking and stuff and I dunno, maybe Im just not doing it right. I didnt try disconnecting the battery. WIll disconnecting the battery reset my radio stations and clock and stuff?

I also heard of the grounding kits, but I discussed this with my dealer/service dept. and those ignants told me not to touch anything under the hood or they will void my warranty. I wont touch nothing.

We all get accustomed to the Feel of the car, so it always seems a little less powerful as that transition happens.

The ECU, will change the settings on the car depending on your driving habits. If for example you do alot of city driving, with no real hard acceleration, the ECU will read this driving as your "normal" driving habits, and change the program and setup

People do reset the ECU, and it will bring back that punch you would feel in the begining. But, if you continue to drive the car moderately, the ECU will adjust it accordingly.

Thats why whenever I get a loaner from my dealer, the car seems so much faster. I think people beat the **** out of them, so the ECU settings are in Performance mode, rather than your average driving style.....

Maybe you're resetting the wrong ECU.

1) Drive the G.
2) Drive a Ford Escort
3) Drive the G. You should feel the exhilarating pull of the G all over again!

Seriously, that will do it. I have a 325iS that I take to the train when it rains and if it rains for a few days in a row, when I get back into the G it feels like an Enzo compared to the BMW. Makes me fall in love all over again!
