G35C Clutch question

Bought a G with 45k miles on it from some ricer kid who gunned it pretty much everywhere he went... From the 7/11 to School. Said the X02 and the AEM intake that came on it were not put on by him. Needless to say, the car drives well, runs strong. However I have one issue. For some odd reason the car has an almost seemingly immovable clutch pedal. I also hear weird chatter while at low RPMs. I've gotten used to it, but I have not drove another car with a clutch that felt that way. I mean my father has a 94 pathfinder that requires less pressure. I brought it into Infiniti Mission Viejo for servicing not too recently and asked them about it. They told me they didnt know what it was maybe the clutch was a little worn.

My brother who is a 350z owner drove it, and he agreed that although the clutch pedal pressuer was a bit excessive, he eventually got used to it. Clutch engages fine, grips where its supposed to. His Z has an aftermarket clutch and flywheel, and I have driven this car and have not heard nearly as much chatter as mine.

Can anyone chime in and contribute as to what maybe causing this problem?
Also is there anyway to adjust for this in our cars?

I have the same issue.... Anyone knows if this can be adjusted? Or should we buy an aftermarket clutch like a stage 2 or something

the engagement on g35 clutch is different that in most cars. I think theres a diy to adjust the pedal so it doesnt go all the way down. Costs like $45 for the supplies.

Yea but that doesnt do anything about the pressure, just the engagement point....Leaving me at square 1.... also the chatter? I was thinking that maybe the kid might have put in an aftermarket clutch?

Could be a cable, theres a problem exsisting somewhere because even though our cars have a high clutch engagement point that doesn't cause the pedal to be nearly impossible to push in or disengage so to say.

are you sure it is still the stock clutch in there? sounds almost like you have a racing aftermarket clutch

Thats what me and my brother were hypothesizing, but would there be any way of checking short of actually removing the clutch? I mean this would make absolutely no sense to put one in, unless A. the original driver burned out the clutch, and he thought, hey I'm probably going to burn another one out, I'll put an aftermarket unit in. or B. He was boosted at one time or another, cause I just dont see an NA setup putting down enough HP to require even a stage 1 clutch and he certainly was not going to do it with an X02 exhaust/AEM intake.

For a clutch pedal to be harder than stock feel I would assume theres a aftermarket clutch in there. If you said the kid gunned it everywhere he went, I bet he didnt know how to drive either. 45k miles is more than enoughto burn up a stock clutch. The reason why there would be a aftermarket clutch than a stock one because 1) theres always a good deal on here for aftermarket clutches 2) it might have been cheaper for him to grab one of those deals than get a stock clutch.

Is your car an 03-04? From my experience the 03-04 6MTs that I have driven is very stiff compared to an 05+ clutch. On a scale of 1-10 of pedal stiffness an 03-04 would be an 8 and an 05+ would be a 4. What year is your friends Z? Assuming your G has a stock clutch I would say it is normal.

My brothers Z is an 03, hes got a jim wolf clutch and flywheel. My G is an 04. Hmm the pedal height is a little off, which just might be an aftermarket clutch.... Wouldnt be surprised...

I think like someone else here I would only hear the chatter if I was listening for it, or the car was absolutely quiet.

Sounds like the original owner went with some sort of heavy duty pressure plate setup, hence the increased pressure required to engage. As for chatter, all of the 6mts have a bit of chatter. The only way you're going to find out whats in there is either, A - taking it apart and seeing for yourself, or B - Giving the original owner a call and asking.
