Heavy camshift noise upon starting

My girlfriend started her 06 G35 sedan/automatic with 37,000 miles this morning to hear what sounded like a machine gun going off in the upper engine. She immediately shut it off and I inspected it myself. The oil light is working and goes off after starting. It sounds like a distinct loud camshaft/lifter noise accompanied by an extremely rich gasoline smell from the exhaust. There is no engine missfire. We flatbedded the car to Infiniti. The tech let the car warm up and the noise although not as loud was still there. They are planning on changing the oil today and check to see what happens on cold start Thursday morning. Oil is changed with Mobile 1 regularly and there is no signs of sludge or any noticeable oil consumption. The car's engine has always been as quiet as a church mouse until this morning. The car is covered under 6yr/70,000 as well as the Infiniti Elite 4yr extended, so no worry there. Anyone out there have any clues? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the info. I've seen this video and you can actually hear in the video the noise coming from the lower end at times (knock). My noise is distinctively upper cam area and up this point there has been no oil consumption or any other internal issues.

UPDATE! Infiniti had the oil changed and the noise was gone. They are planning on keeping the car for a few days to see if the lifter drains down and causes the same noise on a cold start. Hopefully, this will resolve the issue. If it happens again, I'm assuming they will need to change the affected Hydraulic Lifter.
