G35+Snow=Bad?
Hey guys, so im looking at G35's to buy for myself for my birthday. Instead of this car my dad wants to get me a toyota 4runner or something. Im a fast guy and LOVE driving fast. Pretty much i've looked at every car possible and for my price range (No more than 20,000). He really can't say anything bad about this car except the 4WD and the fact that it may/may not be a good car to take to tahoe or somewhere snowy which may or may not be good or not. Id just like know some non biast pros and cons on the car overall and all of the works. Id get it a coupe and probabily colored black or white, maybe diamond graphite and the best year i could get for 20k. Any questions you guys have just post up here and ill be sure to respond pretty fast haha. Thanks guys. Cheers
If you want to drive fast the G35 may not be the right car for you. Although it is faster than most average cars, its not a fast, performance car. Its a LUXURY coupe. Also Driving fast+snow= Bad
Its RWD so it automatically will be bad for snow.

What I'm getting here is that you need to have a vehicle that can handle snow for the times you go to Tahoe. you could always just get the G and rent a truck when you head to the mountains - if you like to go fast you'd probably end up happier. From what i've read on these forums, SoCal guys don't worry about snow. Ever.
I wouldn't take my G to to the mountains ever. Our car is heavy and our tires don't last that long. bad tires + snow + steep hills = bad news.
If you have brand new tires, then I say, go ahead. But if you have more than 8k miles on the tires, good luck with that..
I took my teg to mammoth mountain and had zero problem. Tires lasted for 60k on the teg. LOL.
On the G, tires have about 9k on them and they look pretty worn out. Unevenly worn out.

Would you guys recommend any other car, i don't know i looked at the wrx sti and dont really like the look too much. I LOVE the look of the G but would like the durability of something a bit more.
I agree with above posters, the G is a great car but it sounds like to me you don't want to compromise on the ability to use a car in all driving conditions. If you want a quick car, that can go to the slopes, you're pretty much limited to a WRX/STI or an EVO, or maybe even the Mazda Speed 3.
G35s are much more suited for smooth roads, no weather, and may push your younger budget with excessive tire/brake wear, bad gas mileage and the uncontrollable urge to spend large $$$ on mods

Why do you care about snow? You're in SoCal. Unless you get snow there.. If you want to drive fast you can get the G35, it's a pretty fast car, but it you have to drive through snow and you still want to drive fast you can look into something along the lines of a Evolution, Like a 2005 and up since it has the ACD from factory.
if you want a car that you can take to tahoe, get a wrx or sti.. the G coupe will not carry a snowboard anyways and RWD + snow = bad so there's no point.. Have you looked at G35X sedans with awd.. they are slick looking cars
Besides, unlike some haters, I think my X is pretty fast.
