Engine randomly turns off.

When it rains it pours...

I have a 2003 coupe with roughly 70k on the engine.

While I was driving to auto zone to fix another problem on my car, this problem came up!

I was pulling off the expressway and all of a sudden my engine turns off!!!!

my steering wheel was stiff! ALL the lights on my dash light up instantly, and for a split second I froze in terror! Soon after i put the car into N pushed the cluth down and turn the car back up. An instant rev of the engine was heard the car was back to life, all the lights were gone, and i placed the car back into gear as if nothing happened.

This happened 2-3 more times on my way home.

while I was deployed and my car was under the care of my mother she talked about this same issue. I ignored her and chalked it up to she didn't know what she was talking about.... I mean REALLY how does a car JUST turn off while your driving... I told her she was doing something wrong... well it happened to me and i have to eat ****, bc my mom was with me in the car when it happened... she didnt waste a second to jump on me about it screaming "YOU SEE!!!!! YOU SEEE!!!!"

Anyways I dont have a clue what to do about this... WHERE do you even start for a problem like this... hopefully you guys have been through it and acn give some advice...

I'm guessing you were decelerating when it shut off? If so, it could be a faulty throttle body or MAF sensor. Do you have a CAI?

You can try going back to stock and see if it fixes it. I'd recommend cleaning the MAF sensor

I have an automatic. It suddenly shut off or would start.
Example 1.
Went to a gas station went over a bump turned off car, when i was done pumping gas it wouldn't start. No radio, no lights nothing...
Example 2.
Getting off an off ramp on the freeway and waiting for the green. Went DEAD.

Turned out it was just terminals being a little dirty and power cutting from the battery. Works fine now. Simple answer for a simple problem hopefully this is what you have.
