Need help with Insurance Claim.

Well my 19'' rays forged wheels were recently stolen. I filed a claim to my insurance agent and today i got my check.

I was expecting somewhere near 3,000 or 4,000. Since Infini dealer said it costs around 6,000 to replace all 4 wheels WITHOUT tires.

Well they gave me 1,900!!! -500$ deductible so i have 1400 in check.

How in the hell did they get a price like this? 1,900 for all 4 wheels and all 4 tires? You got to be ****ting me. Is there any way i can talk them into giving me more money? Man im pissed. I'm guessing i need to go to Infiniti, Let them print out the wheel prices, and go to my insurance agent?

insurance gives you the depreciated value of the parts. it sucks, i know. printing a price quote from the dealer sounds like an idea to try. try and goto your local claims office and talk to your rep in person. tell him your wheels were in mint condition and you just had new tires put on recently.

Most importantly reiterate that the wheels were mint and provide photos if you can... the Previous poster was right they depriciated the values due to age and less the deductible.

Also get a break down of what they used for the cost new of your wheels and then the depricated amounts for how long of a time period..
i would not go on too much about the tires... Most likely wont help your case too much..

Uh, you are reimbursed for the replacement value of the wheels/tires. $2,000 is plenty to get you a set with NEW tires. The $500 deductible is your fault.

Technically, there is no issue here. Not to say you couldn't try though

you can find some really good looking 20" wheels for around 1200, throw another 500 or so for tires and you're only paying 300 out of pocket to upgrade to aftermarket 20" wheels with brand new tires

I would get an estimate from Infiniti on the wheels and one from a tire store for replacement costs and submit it to your insurance company. The $1400 you received won't begin to get you back on the road....

Insurance is suppose to write u a check for the cost of replacement. What you should have done was get Infinti to print a quote for the cost of the replacement and your insurance is suppose to pay you the full amount.

When my stereo system was Stolen at a campus parking lot, I got a police report and a quote from a stereo shop to replace all stereo system.

I didn't even have any RECEIPT for my stuff. Yet my insurance wrote me a check for the maximum I could get for aftermarket parts.

If you're with 21st, you are Automatically covered up to 2k.

I got a check for 2K. I didn't have to pay any deductible. I used the 2k to purchase a replacement navi unit and sub box.

The stereo shop sent an invoice to 21st century for about $2500.

And the reason why I only got 2k is because I wasn't covered for anything above 2k in aftermarket parts. Had I upgraded the coverage, I would have gotten the full amount. No "deprecation" value.

Your insurance is suppose to pay for what it cost to replace your parts back to what it was BEFORE the accident or theft.. If it EXCEEDS the current value of the car, they will total it.

Since it was an OEM part, you should have received the full amount. They Gave you $1,900, thats barely a wheel and a half. LOL But, maybe they only gave you that much because they knew you were going to buy a different wheel anyways. If you had gotten an actual quote from Infiniti, I'm sure the outcome would have been different.

And what Insurance do you have?

The entire car depreciates in value the moment you drive it off the lot... the only way you are covered is having full replacement cost insurance.

Yes, the car depreciates, but if you have parts stolen, the parts, like wheels do not. They owe for what it would cost to replace the wheels. If they can get them in same condition for $1200, then the owe $1200. They owe him what it would cost to replace them, even if with used wheels. BUT they have to be in the same condition as the ones that were stolen. So I guess in a way, you could say they depreciate, but the ins company still owes market value to replace them. Maybe not new value, but market value. Hope that helps. OP, if you have other questions, please PM me and I will give you a number where I can be reached.

I work for an insurance company..If a body shop had to order those wheels to replace them they would be less than four hundred a piece..I looked them up one day cause I was curious..its not like the insurance company just makes up a number. sounds to me like the dealership you went to was trying to take you to the cleaners.

and if you want to know exactly how they came up with that figure ask them to send you an estimate..I work in auto claims and the way that we handle that is that we have a data base of all the wheels that come on the vehicles from the factory and we are able to look them up and find the cost of the wheel. I have the same wheels I looked them up one day and I think they were 383.00 a piece w/o tires. as far as tires its called betterment when a deduction is taken..however you have to be able to measure the amount of wear on the tires so me personally wouldn't have taken any for the tires. call your insurance company if you have questions, thats really your best bet.

they gave him more than enough to purchase a used set of rays in condition similar to his old ones.
