Cleaning OEM 19"s
#31
I am also a little OCD about my car, thats why i wanted to clean the inside of the wheels. I still haven't figured it out, since the inside seems to have a protective coating of some sort so i don't want to scratch at with even a scubber, but at the same time, i want to live the brake dust of there. I am not the original owner of the car, so i have no idea how well or poorly the car was taken care of.

Third and last post for the thread....I promise!
If your wheels are really filthy you need to take them off the car. I use Advantage cleaner mixed 3/4 cleaner & 1/4 hot water along with a nylon pan scrubber while wearing surgical gloves. This is for the inside of the wheels only, takes about 15 minutes per wheel. When you're done they should look factory new....close!

OK, thank you gary C, you have answered my question which everyone has failed to answer, You can (accordingly) scrub the inside of the wheels with a harsher material then microfiber or cotton.
The only problem is there is a slight coating on the oem 19's, and i think u are running aftermarkets (if i am correct?) anyways, i've got some meguiars hot wheel cleaner and i have a mr clean or something cleaner that is a multipurpose cleaner mostly for the kitchen and what not. I don't plan on using it on the outside part of the rim that is normal visible, just the inside.

Sounds like the typical BMW, Mercedes, or Lexus owners who have black front wheels cuz their too lazy to wash their $50k+ cars once a year
Magic Eraser works for me. I usually pull my wheels off the car 2wice a year and really give them a good inside cleaning. Although I have OCD when it comes to my car so the inside of my wheels are as spotless as the front side at all times.

Do you clean the inside of your exhaust pipe too? If not, better start cleaning it. haha
