Looking to Buy a USED G35, Yes I am a newb hopefully you guys can help me.

Hey guys, I am looking to buy my first infiniti and am definitly trying to buy a used G35. I have been looking around the market to find the one that would fit me best and in my budget. (10K-14K) I have actually found one with 79K miles, no accident, clean title 2003, but automatic. I actually dont mind if the car is automatic or manual so this car is defintly in my best interest right now. I know the automatic's dont have oil consumption problems correct? Also, do you think this will be worth the buy? It is priced around 12K and is clean, but what should I look for when checking this car out? Is there any recalls with the 2003 G35 or problems that happen. Is it worth it to buy a g35 with this many miles or am I gonna buy it an have to put tons of money to fix it ? Also, I am young, so is this car expensive to maintain? Money isnt tight but I would just want to know how much it would be to maintain. I am new to this forum and hope you guys can help. Thanks, and here or some pictures:

As far as I know, early model G35s had problems with window motors and rear axle clicking. Have you check how much insurance is going to be if you were to buy it? Have you actually checked the car out in person or are those pictures from a website? If I were looking for one, I would check under the hood and do a visual of the condition of the fluids, belts, air filter and any kind of leaks. Check the oil level too while you are at it as well as the ATF. At that mileage, you are close to needing or overdue for spark plugs. You mention that the car had no accidents; but I would still look at the body very carefully, even under the hood. Check all the glass panels too and lights. Look at the tires and make sure there is enough tread and that they all match (brand and model.) Also drive the car and listen for any abnormal noises from the time you start it up to the time you shut it off. During the test drive, check to see if the vehicle pulls when cruising at highway speeds and when braking. Check for steering wheel shimmy in the same situations. If you can see through the spokes of the wheels, check the brake pads to get an idea of how thick they are. Keep in mind that it is possible for the inside pad to wear out more than the outside. But by doing so, at least you get an idea about how much pad material is left. Last things I can think of are; ask for maintenace records, and do your research. I'm sure someone will have better advice than I do, the people on these forums are cool and helpful. Good luck and let us know how things go.

Seats and interior look absolutely hacked. Cheap double din kit in the dash.

I think you can do better, if you do want this one. I'd pay less than 12k

get a carfax ...this is very critical because cars coming into NJ with salvage/flood titles do not show on NJ titles until you retitle car in different state.

Thanks I will definitly be asking these questions and look for it. And yeah I just looked and the interior looks really dirty, but I was thinking of asking it down to 10K becuase he seemed to be willing to do it for that price. Also, I am also located in New Jersey, so the title will still be clean correct? And I've been looking at some others but I seen some with the same mileage and year going for 15K+ havent really found a deal that was good for me. I am going to check this car out maybe this weekend or so, So i will take pictures to update you guys, Also if you can help me find some deals on the EAST coast for a good price that would be a great help too. Thanks for all your input and how long to g35's usually last for ? And how many miles do you guys get on each fill up? Please let me know. Thanks

There aren't many complaints about G35 reliability, and there is a huge thread on gas mileage. The car guzzles gas. I get around 18 mpg, which seems to be the norm. Others claim higher mileage in the low 20's.

your passenger side door color is off - doesn't match the rest of the car - did someone hit you or something?

The rear bumper is a little off color as well. I checked the carfax before i bought it and it had no accidents, but as time went on the color started to look differently, idk if it's from the sun or something because i don't have a garage.

I was at the mall one day and i saw another g35 and both of it's doors and bumpers were wayyy more off color than my passenger door, does anyone know if it's somekind of paint issue from the factory or what?

Bro, don't buy it...I look at it this way, if a guy doesn't take care of the interior, it is the same way with the engine... Look for another one, before I bought mine 20 days ago, I almost bought a 05, red for 13k...the only reason I didn't buy it was because I wanted MT. Take a look at this one...

I just bought an 05 Coupe and before I did I took it up to Infiniti and had them run a Pre-purchase check on it. It cost $110, but the peace of mind is nice to know that there is nothing wrong with the mechanics of the car
