Loaner Car Question
Loaner Car Question
Ok when I took the G35c for a test drive I got the line, your not old enough to test drive this car but here are the keys. I'm 22 and if and when I need to bring the car in for service am I allowed to get a loaner or is it illeagal?? Sh*t if i can afford the car in the first place then why the hell cant I borrow one? Just wondering and looking for feedback. Thanx
Re: Loaner Car Question
Don't worry they should treat you with the up most respect when you go in for service. I look 16 I got a loaner no questions asked. Will just if I'm going to be out of the area, that's about it. If you thought the service you got when you bought the car was good, the service when you get your car serviced should be even better.

Re: Loaner Car Question
hmm, must be an age thing then, each dealership is different. Some might not give loaners at all. I've known this from this one Mercedes dealership here...lets say you bring in your $130,000 CL600 coupe for service, if your lucky they will give you a POS dodge intrepid to rag around in for a few hours...such bastards
Hey to all you youngins out there that cant get a loaner...perhaps have your older brother or your father take the car in for service, they will for sure give them a loaner, right?

Re: Loaner Car Question
i think their bull$hitting... in new jersey you have to be 21 to take any sort of loaner car off the lot whether it be a car rental place or a loaner from the dealership... i'm only 18, so it applies to me... i also think that you have to be 21 to buy a car, so if you are buying the car then they should let you get a loaner car.

Re: Loaner Car Question
Yeah I Am the one paying for the car but due to some technical circumstances the car itself will not be in my name, It's a company thing. I just hope that service is not a pain in the *** cause usually I dont have to drive far to drop a car of but with Infiniti I do. I guess we'll see soon enough.
Re: Loaner Car Question
The cutoff age is usually 21, and it's usually insurance companies that dictates this, not any local laws. Same reason why rental car companies won't let you rent one, though sometimes they bump the age to 25.
So, don't get upset with the dealers over this one, their hands are tied. Say you're 19, you go to test drive a new coupe. They're not supposed to let you, but they do. Now, some drunk w/o insurance runs a red light and totals the coupe on your test drive. The dealer's insurance isn't going to cover it, because you're under 21. Now they eat the cost of a new car, and the salesman that let you take the keys gets fired. (That's a best-case scenario, assuming no one gets hurt seriously.)
Another option would be to check with your own insurance company, and make sure they cover you in a rental car with the same coverage as your primary vehicle (they should, but check). You could then talk to a manager at your dealership and give them a copy of your insurance card, and they may be able to loan you a vehicle.

Re: Loaner Car Question
If you pay for your car and your insurance, no matter your age, a loaner should be in order.
But if your Mommy an Daddy pay for your car,and the insurance, send them to get your car serviced, they should have no problem in getting the loaner.
