Goodbye to all...

Wanted to let you guys know that I traded in my beloved G. I bought a place downtown and did not want to pay the extra $200 a month for the underground valet parking in my building. So I got something I don't have to worry about parking in the street...a 2002 fully loaded Landrover (navigation, 12 speaker harmon Kardon, heated windsheild and mirrors, etc...). It only had 20k miles on it and I got it for a steal of $22,900 through a friend of mine at Mcgrath lexus. With the extra gas I will be saving still close to $400 a month. I got $29,000 for the trade in too which was the best compared to the other dealerships !!!

It was like I was living in the suburbs in a huge house and huge yard and owning a wonderful beautiful big dog that I loved named G. Now I moved into a small place in the city and the big dog is not happy in his confines so out of my love for G, it was best that I gave him to someone else to take care of him the way he needed to be. I loved that car and sad to see it go. I will move on to the GTR though when it comes to the states. LOL.

Re: Goodbye to all...

Saving gas with a Rover? According to the theoretical specs, the G uses less gas. The way we all drive let's just say it's 15 mpg. So just for kicks, if you're referring to the "Freelander" it gets around 17 city which is about 2 mpg better than the G in the city. So for every 10,000 miles driven you are saving $158. (667 gallons at $2 per with the G, 588 gallons at $2 per with the Freelander). Also, although slightly shorter at 175 inches, the Freelander has a turning radius of 38 feet, 6 inches wider than the G. Not exactly better at maneuvering in close quarters.

If you bought the Discovery then the city rating is 13, which is worse gas mileage by any comparison to the G. Furthermore, the Discovery is 185.2 inches in length (compared to the G at 182.2) and has a turning radius of 39 feet compared to the G at 37.4 feet.

What gives?

Sorry to see you go. How did you get 29k for the trade in? My cousin sells cars and he said that I would only be looking at around 26k for my 04 coupe with less than 5000 miles on it! Anyway, have fun with the Land Rover, they kick *** off road if you get the chance. My bro had one and it was a blast. Just make sure not to scratch the paint.

Re: Goodbye to all...

I got $27,500 actual trade in because they matched Carmax. With the tax break it comes out to just over $29K. With the extras on it, I could have probably gotten $32k if I sold it out right but didn't want to go through the hassle. As for the practicality and gas mileage...I will be able to get out of the snowed in street parking spot and it saved me $200 a month in underground parking and another $200 in car payment...and gas is only about $100 more a month. Plus it saves me the worry of a ding or scratch or it getting stolen cause I don't care about the rover. Do a nice peel out or fly by a slow a$$ rover for me . Later
